Your favourite squad lists (+UK stockists question)

By Rhinoviru3, in X-Wing

Hello Forum!

So I've played a few casual games and made some pretty funky lists, but I'd love to hear some more lists from a diverse base of players (that's you lot ;D) and get the ol' creative juices metaphorically flowing! It doesn't matter if it's Rebel or Empire, a competitive list or a fun one - what are your favourite lists and why? What combos can your list utilise?

Also; I've been lurking on here for some time now and seen some really great savings on expansions over in the States - any UK/European players on here have a good source for X-Wing goodness? (My locals are great, but a tad overpriced </kind sarcasm>)

Cheers!

What do you class as overpriced? I presume we pay more than people in the USA for example, that's pretty much a given!

I found http://gameslore.com/ to be the cheapest in the UK. Customer service is excellent too.

Ha, I realised that must have sounded a little dodgy :L

I believe the American lads have a source called MiniMarket which seems to be a good deal cheaper for them than generic stores etc.

I've found my locals to be a good £3-4 pounds extra per expansion versus other retailers (not online prices!) which is a bit silly (considering the quantity of stuff I would like to own, wages permitting)!

EDIT: Thanks Bilisknir, I'll check that one out! :D

I've sort of taken the view if we are talking like £1 or £2 more for an X Wing etc then I'd rather pay the local store, they at least employ people locally and probably pay taxes :)

I think where some availability in the UK has been limited maybe some people have profited (see some crazy high prices on amazon from independent sellers and ebay)

I will also admit to pre-ordering some stuff on Amazon etc. Re Gamestore link above I had a look but couldn't work out their postage charges.

Shipping isn't bad from them. I bought £150 of X-wing stuff from them and shipping was £5.79.

Plus they are both UK based and as far as I know pay taxes!

win/win then :)

Ok that cite had a Firefly Board game on it! Anyone played that? Is it any good?

(Sorry to get off topic but I love Firefly)

The Firefly game is great! I've been playing it more than X-wing lately. It really captures the feel of the show, and they've already released one expansion with another one planned in the next few months. I highly recommend it. PM me if you have more questions.

Gifts for Geeks. Reasonable prices, good delivery.

Element Games. Free postage after spending £80. Usually put on a few offers, they tell you how much stock they have and expectation date for restock ( although this varies due to FFG )

Thanks! I'll have to consider getting it. The problem is I don't get to play x-wing as much as I want to and don't have time for another game that I love. I tried to get into SWLCG and bought some stuff for it. I only was able to play 1 game (although i played several games against myself to learn how to play, that was actually a lot of fun). I loved SWLCG, but I couldn't get my wife into it and my brother (my normal opponent for x-wing) although he liked the concept, didn't really get on board either. So now it sits in a cabinet waiting for my 2 year old son to grow up and play with me. The same thing i think would happen with Firefly. But I'm still tempted to buy it.

Life is hard sometimes...
