Do characters firing weapons rated at longer range bands take any penalties when shooting at shorter range bands? If your blaster rifle is rated as a long range weapon, do you take any penalties for shooting at short or engaged?

This is a really basic question but I couldn't find the answer in the core rulebook. Can you tell me where in the core rulebook I can find this rule?

two purple for medium

three purple for long

four purple for extreme

two purple for engaged with ranged light

three purple for engaged with ranged heavy

those are the basics. There are attachments and weapons mods that changes it a little.

Engaged is the only one with penalties, and it has nothing to do with the "native" range of the weapon. No penalties for short.
