I noticed that there are no split cards in the newest sets. Is this something that is going to be phased out? I like the split card feature, it adds more options for the deck.
Split Cards
I really hope they are. Good riddance, I never liked them. They opened the door for so many rules questions.
there were just alot of problems with split cards in general.
and they opened up alot of explaining but there werent really any contriversal issues with them once it was explained
I also think it's good for them to go; rules issues, really tiny text and awkward-looking in general, (I had a player thinking the difficulty of the split side was his control check) and roughly 95% of the time people would only ever use a split card for one of its two sides anyway. There are plenty of other ways to add versatility to cards - extra abilities on foundations/action, static text like anti-discard or a block trigger, etc. - without making them split.
I wouldn't say there gone for good just guessing since we did have some cool ones in set 11 a set Hata designed. But it most likely wont be as frequent but something I will ask Steve this weekend.
They aren't going anywhere. They aren't in this set because it's supposed to be newbie-friendly with relatively easy to understand interactions and easily understood cards.
Yeah I doubt they are going anywhere I love split cards and I have never had any rule problems regarding them.

I beg to differ, when I used infiltrating, I commonly used the attack side depending on the situation, and the same with demon hunting, Demon Hunting I think was the best foundation/attack card ever, because i could use it to make my hand bigger, or go agro with it and beat people up.
I said 95%, that's acknowledging a number of exceptions -.-'

I think your 95% is a bit generous.
Clones, Soldier of sparta, Infiltrating, Demon hunting, Well traveled, Fighting Frenzy, The anti K, Anti Social, Break Free, Charasmatic, Cobra Blow, Confrontation, Control the Flow, Countless Days of Killing, Dancing Battle Kabuki, Fatiuges, Forsaken, Heishing Jian, Hidden Base, High tide, Ostracize, Kens shotokan, THE LIST GOES ON....
These are all cards i have used or have seen used in tourney caliber decks that have utilized both sides of the card.
Okay, okay. Though some of those are stretches, and when I said they were used "for" one side I meant the reason people would put the card in the deck would be for one particular side, with the other being basically incidental - i.e. Clones was not played because it's foundation E: was handy, and obviously would have seen play as a 3/5 3M5 attack with no foundation side at all. It's all semantics, regardless.
I've seen and played several decks where Clones was pretty good even as a foundation.
Water twelve anyone? water ibuki that pumps up kunai and suzaku for extra damage?
Clones + Kubi Ori = LOL. Too bad KO to banned.
Clones with *Siegfried* - Spinning Phantom Combo makes people go splat
Clones with Yi Shan - ...yeah
Lots of characters recently have been released with all their attacks sharing all three of their resources. :]
So everyone forgets what i consider to be a great foundation/attack.... long reach. You know you like a 4diff 6 damage attack that lets you gain life with a 1 diff foundation side and a +1 mid block

You can also use gorgeous team too get it back which is awesome too bad it doesn't have a 4 point.
The new Siegfried would make Clones sexy as anything if it were legal.

Another attack too get with gorgeous team water would be insane then HDC lol ...
He can even run Gorgeous Team off of Life, though I think Good is his best symbol. If Clones were still around, though, I'm certain any player would be HAPPY to splash GTeam in.
Water's chief issue right now is that most of it's important foundations are 4 checks. In fact, I tried making a decklist for Yuri the other night, and 24 4 checks ended up in the deck.
split cards rule. they are one of the more unique aspects of ufs and it would be sad if they went away.
