Etahn A'baht Squads

By The Imperial Rebel, in X-Wing

Well i know there's been a bunch of talk on how to use Etahn, some ssying to use him as Howlrunner for the headhunters but what do YOU see him as in YOUR hands! Personally i made a really nice squad with that goes like this!

Etahn A'baht + R2D2 + Veteran Instincts (37)

Rookie Pilot (21)

Rookie Pilot (21)

Rookie Pilot (21)

The idea is that Etahn has R2-D2 so he can recover shields (which with his dial to be similar the A-Wings it should be easy) and not get targeted as much. But then the punch of the squad should be crazy! Also is a very good to counter tie swarms.

How will you use him?

I think him and Ten numb are going to be the bestest of best friends. I tend to play inflated point games so letting ten and a HLC Blue or dagger hang out with him sounds like a nice plan.

I am liking E'tahn and 5 Headhunters, but I also had some other thoughts. Likely more fun than competitive, though:

First idea:

E'tahn

Wedge+Marksmanship

3 Headhunters

Second:

E'tahn

Han+Mercenary Copilot+Gunner+Marksmanship

--Expensive, but with some strong maneuvering, Han will likely roll 2-3 crits every single turn, issue is requires range 3

12 points remaining-Headhunter or more upgrades? An engine upgrade would help keep Han at a distance, and the E-wing could take a sensor and an astromech

Third Idea:

E'tahn

Ten Numb

Several others have mentioned this also. Not sure what I would flank it with, though, suggestions?

Don't hold your breath on an A-Wing maneuver dial. I'm sure FFG are aware of the implications of an Astromech slot, and although the E-Wing has similar speed, that doesn't necessarily mean it's equally maneuvable, especially when some of that maneuverability has already been expressed with its Agility 3, Barrel Roll, and Evade. I would be surprised if the 2-speed turns are be green, for example.

As far as how I will use him? Leading a mix of A- and X-Wings. Perhaps some Z-95s if there's points left over. Although I could see him with Squad Leader and a generic Y-Wing with Proton Torpedoes for a powerful crit-seeking alpha strike.
