What's the maximum number of times you can take Sound Constitution?

By theGarbs, in Dark Heresy Rules Questions

Is it only limited by your advance scheme or is there another cap? I've been told the limit is double your toughness bonus but I can't find any mention of that anywhere. If that's true I can only take half of the extra wounds that appear in my scheme, so I'm looking for some clarification.

Thanks

It really depends on the advancement scheme - do note that sometimes it is noted with a multiplier, however.

The "double your TB" sounds like a houserule.

Double your TB comes from the newer games, BC on, where advancement is freeform. Wounds also cost a lot more (and in BC if you follow 2/5 alignments, hideously pricey)

What's BC? We just started Ascension.

Black Crusade = BC

If your running Dark Heresy (Ascension), disregard that rule. Your rank schema dictates how many times you can take Sound Constitution.

Ok, thanks. I'll talk to our GM about it.

I've always assumed that you can only take Sound Constitution once each time it is offered in your Advancement scheme unless otherwise noted (such as in the Guardsman or Arbitrator's advance scheme that notes they may take it more than once).

That's true Arana. It's taken once per rank unless specifically noted otherwise.

There is an (optional) rule in Ascension called "Only Human", which limits your max wounds to somewhere in the 21-25 range. Can't recall exactly.

If you play by that rule, then the maximum time you can take Sound Constitution is limited by your starting wounds, really :)
