Upcoming store championships

I have been thinking of the upcoming store championship and which build i should run. Ive been thinking of doing a rebel list (i know perish the thought!)

I have had success with

roark +ion turret

blue+HCL

garven

rookie

i have been thinking of the following two lists that have seen some traction though.

a) 2XORS

2Xgold+ion turret

b) Kyle+PTL+chewbacca+ionturret+engine upgrade

3X rookie pilot

what is your experience flying with or against these? What are some effective strategies using them?

A - Could be fun, a lot of action denial and/or ioning of targets.

B - I would drop PTL and engine upgrade on kyle and make the 3 rookies red instead.

Your first list is Rebel Convoy, and I will vouch for its effectiveness. I took it to the Semi-Finals on Vassal, and Top 16 at worlds. Had I not had a near total mental breakdown at the end of the day, even going so far as to put dials down with my turns backwards (turning right instead of left, etc.) it may have gone significantly further. I would suggest you play it a few times, however, and perhaps head over to TeamCovenant to read up on the theory and use behind it. Despite the high hull and shields, it is not a forgiving list to play. It IS powerful, and used right can seem like an unstoppable juggernaut of doom.

Your second list looks fun, but quirky. It might be very effective, I know that Engine Upgrade on HWKs makes them far, far more useful than they are otherwise. I like how you have set it up so that Kyle can maneuver properly to stay out of arcs, but still add support to the Rookies when necessary. The main drawback is that Kyle and the Rookies do not maneuver in the same way, nor do they have the same goals tactically, so keeping them in support range of one another may be problematic. Then again, skillfully used you might be able to turn that to your advantage, denying your opponent a clear counter stratagem.

Good luck with whichever list you settle on. Play them both for the next few weeks, and see which one fits your playstyle better.

I do like Rebel Convoy, as KineticOperator indicated. I've been working on a variant of that list:

2x ORS + Intel Agent + Navigator + APL

2x Prototype Pilot

The ORS suddenly become a significant threat and work well at denying your enemy movement and firing opportunities. It's a great way to damage your enemies while forcing them to split their fire, since they can't shoot the ORS they just ran into. Add the ORS turret at range 1 is still 3 Dice and you've got a mean list here.

The prototype pilots are excellent end game ships, since they are nimble and can nibble on your enemy for the entire game without being too much fo a threat. If they are shot at, they've got high evade and can absorb a lot of fire that way, all while you are mauling your enemy with the ORS.
