a maneuver never before seen on a dial!

By Osoroshii, in X-Wing

I have seen all kinds of theory's of this clue FFG dropped on us. Most seems to think its a 1-K or a curved K maneuver. There is the move backwards movement and even more boring a changing of a color on a dial.

Let's think a lot deeper into this clue. There are 11 movement templates in the game. There is only so many combinations of these 11 template they can do befor it feels familur to other ships. Each purchase of an expansion comes with everything you need to field that ship, shields, focus, stress and so on. What if the Tie Defender comes with a template to accommodate this "a maneuver never before seen on a dial"? What if this maneuver is a bank 4, Turn 4, or god help us a Striaght 6? Perhaps, a maneuver not in the current scope of the game like a turn beyond 90 degrees? Since the ships come with everything you need to field it, you would have no need for a new template unless you have the ship.

With all that said, it's probably a 1 koiogran turn......*boring*

A 135 degree turn would be amazing, and could easily fit into the box. Here's hoping!

well for one, they didn't show a new template.. so thinking no new templated move

Yeah I agree with this, they showed all the components, so it's unlikely their promo would not show something like that. And a 1 K-turn isn't boring, it's a crazy move! Don't knock it til you try it ;)

Can't try it.... Aces isn't out yet. Grrrrrrr......

I'm in for "yellow" maneuvers that grant free evade tokens: Evasive Maneuver!

The best part is yelling that out loud every time you use it.

My guess will be a loop - use the 2 Straight template, put it between the rear nubs on the base, and move the ship backwards, keeping the same facing. Similar to a barrel roll, but front-to-back instead of sideways. The reason I think it will be use a 2 Straight is because a 1 straight wouldn't clear a ship right behind you. A 2 Straight gives you a little more room.

a backwards turn would interesting (either a kiogran going in revers, or even using a turn on the rear of the ship

The aces shows us a never before seen movement with the 1-K. Before we even get the aces in hand they turn around and toss it on a dial.........I couldn't think of anything less imaginative.

Wave 4 is likely to not hit the shelves until at least a week after Gen-Con in August. This is 6 months away, given that they showed some items already it's likely they would hold something close to the chest. Had they just laid out the template all suspense is gone. FFG could hold us for 2 months guessing and then tell us it is a new template yet not revealing it, then 4 months from now show it.That gives 2 months until release of the product. This keeps the hype running until it's release. The Rebel Transport and Tantive IV we're announce last Aug at Gen-Con and we still know surprisingly little about either. We assume they showed all the contents of the product, but did they?

I've Run Lorrir, and Cowall, Lorrir's move is phenomenal, and it nearly always got me in position to shoot and not be shot. Cowall's 1K only came up once when he was almost off board, and his 1K kept him well in the play area, and in position to take out an X wing. it was a simple match up equal points and 2 X wings vs 2 Squints. Both X wings went down and only 2 hits on the squints, one each, and one due an asteroid..about 35 - 40 minutes

I'm seriously doubtful they are making this new move the 1K turn, it would be lame and I think they know it. Yes I could be wrong, but in the years I have been dealing with FFG, they haven;t been lame, they have surprised and titillated.. typically. (Also, the 1K isn't on the dial, it's Cowall's special ability)

When they preview their ships, as we have seen in the past, what you see is what you get, there are no hold outs, so there won't be a new template for a new maneuver.

I suspect they will either combine in use templates and give us something interesting, or unexpected..

I like either a side slip, maybe using 2 bank templates, or possibly a looping maneuver that allows maybe a 2 straight backwards.. not a proper reverse, as these ships would self destruct in a fast reversal movement.. in my opinion..

I also like the possibility, and honestly I'm still trying to think it through, the Yellow maneuver with adding an Evade.. they have to have a reason to have an Evade token in the set.. so that is just as likely as what I suggested.. Good idea Rakky..

what about a "side slip" use a 90 degree turn.. put it in the front guides then move the ship along, but keep it in the same facing, ending with the template on the side of the base ..(like a barrel roll)

It moves the ship forward diagonaly. and keeping the same facing/ direction.

This is a manuver i have not seen yet. and there is no need for additional templates.

I heard this one too, I think it has a good mechanic for achieving the move.. I think my version fits better in my mind, but this accomplishes the job, and is probably easier for most people to understand

I guess I'm waiting for more info and a move diagram showing off the new maneuver, like they did with Lorrir and Cowall..

I suspect that the never before seen move will be a white K turn.

I would rule out any new templates as those expansion boxes are small and the pic of the new expansion does not show any new template.

Moves that have not been on a dial are a 1 red K turn (only a pilot ability right now) and some form of reverse move.

what about a 90 degree turn that you simply execute by starting with your ship heading/facing reversed 180 degrees??
