So did anyone else get let down?

By Torresse, in X-Wing

hey guys, lots of new faces on these forums since Ive last posted, but atlas Ive come back to be an arrogant pilot Ive always been while playing this game.

So I opened up ffgs page and the first thing I noticed was a miniature of a Raptor, excited ffg finally made BSG into a minature game, I threw open the packaging (clicked the next page) and found to my horror that it turned out to be an Ewing. I must say the news was bitter sweet. I was happy to see Xwing get more miniatures.

BTW anyone else thinking the Defender is going to have a move backwards move like in STAW?

They have some license with BSG. I don't see why they don't make a version of that game using the same rules structure. I would love to turn a Viper 360 and stop on a dime.

There's not enough ships in the BSG universe to release more than one wave. Maybe one and a half.

I'd say a big problem is lack of ships in BSG, though I would love them: Viper Mk II, Viper Mk VII, Stealth Viper, Raptor, Raptor missile boat, Old Raider, New Raider, Heavy Raider.

A: is that the Raptor that Battlestar Galactica based off of the X-Wing and got sued for?
B: That backwards move is one of the leading theories. Also contending are: Turned/Banked Koiograns, and combination moves (e.g. Perform a 2 Right Turn immediately followed by a 1 Right Turn).

My money is NOT on the combination move, but it's a popular theory nonetheless.

I'm a fan of Battlestar Galactica and the the viper would be a fun ship to see in this rule set. However, there are just simply to few different ships to support its own game. Mixing the two licenses will never happen. Shape way makes models for this purpose. My suggestion is to order some Vipers make up some dials and pilot cars, have fun.

they dont have to make the game as big as xwing, release the few ships in the universe, and make money. Sure it would be nice if they could come up with new pilots and abilities, but a one time release would be satisfying enough.

You know, they COULD release basic ship packs... and make money on pilot card and equipment packs.

A BSG game with X-Wing's general ruleset would be so great, but yes, the show's creators didn't imagine enough ship types to make a line of BSG figures viable. Unless FFG goes with all the weird ships that have been made up for the online BSG game.

As it stands, these would be the fighter-sized craft that we've seen on screen:

Viper Mk. I
Viper Mk. II

Viper Mk. III
Viper Mk. VII
Raptor Mk. I

Raptor Mk. II
Stealthstar
Blackbird

Raider Mk. I
Raider Mk. II
Heavy Raider

A decent number of Colonial craft, but not enough Cylon ones...
