Regarding Factions

By PhantomPilot, in X-Wing

Hey everyone. I'm a new member so please forgive me if this topic has already been discussed, but why don't some of the more iconic ships not have at least one pilot from the opposite faction? I'm mystified why there is no Han Solo or Chewbacca persona for the Lambda-class shuttle, representing the Tydirium. Or why Imperial players will never have someone for the YT-1300. Surely some bounty hunter in the expanded universe uses the YT-1300?

Frankly, I just really want an official Rookie One persona for the Phantom TIE, so that's why I bring the matter up. Again, if the topic has already gotten discussed, feel free to redirect me and lock this up.

It's been mentioned as an aside, but I don't remember any threads specifically about it recently. Part of it is likely gameplay balance and simplicity, as well as an emphasis on getting iconic and widely playable ships released for each faction, and maintaining those factions' unique characteristics (look at how many people are excited about the potential for Rebel swarms with the Z-95 announced).

Of course, your group can house rule various pilots or other special rules all you want. I'd actually recommend it, and if you want some more specific advice I've come up with a couple myself.

It's been brought up a handful of times. There are many ships that could use additional pilots, or "traitor" pilots for captured ships like in your example. While we might not see quite as many examples on the Imperial side there are tons on the Rebel side. I'll give a few that I can think of.

Rebels with Imperial Ships:

Rebel Defector (TIE Fighter PS2, 13 points)

Shuttle Tydirium (title, Rebel only)

Han Solo (Shuttle)

Wedge Antilles (TIE Hunter, TIE Bomber, Shuttle)

Kasan Moor (TIE Interceptor)

Tycho Celchu (TIE Interceptor)

Rookie One (TIE Phantom)

Emon Azzameen (Firespray 31)

Imperials with Rebel Ships:

Captain Sarkli (X-Wing, Airspeeder)

...Yeah, I don't know any other examples other than the above, though I wouldn't rule out possibilities. I'm certain there's at least one Medium Transport that was owned by the Imperials as a slaver ship, and there were likely many examples of CR-90's that were owned and used by the Empire.

For the record....... Wedge has flown **** near everything.

Weasel, if I listed everybody who's used more than one ship they're assigned to in this game, I'd be here for over an hour typing that out. I have painting to do, for the love of the Force.

Thanks guys. I figured I would house rule it anyway, but thanks for the feedback! (Like I said, all I want out of this entire game is an official Rookie One card. For any ship, I don't care.)

Here's a few options for the Imps:

Incom Test Pilot (X-Wing)

CorSec Pilot (X-Wing)

Loyalist Militia Pilot (Y-Wing)

Q-Ship Pilot (YT-1300)

Garrison Pilot (A-Wing, as a proxy for a V-Wing)

Espo Pilot (Z-95)

In Wedge's case.... it's worth the effort
