Ship peg insert jammed, peg broke off.

By iRogue13, in X-Wing

I would like some suggestions as to how I might be able to get a broken off peg out of any ships' stand/insert.

Drill a hole in it with a pin vice and then try and wriggle it out with a paper clip?

its actually the peg insert on the bottom of the ship that Im talking about. The pegs were a little too tight to fit and it got stuck. the peg's end broke off and I tried using mini pliers to pull what little stuck out of it.

There are a couple of options.

First, what Onebit said. Drill a small hole in the broken piece and stick a straight pin or paper clip in the hole and try to work it out.

If that doesn't work, you might need to just drill a hole in the broken stand and, using some wire as a pin, glue the base directly to the peg on the ship. You won't be able to remove it, but you can still use the ship.

When I had this happen I used a pair of tweezers with sharp tips, stabbed at the broken piece, and eventually was able to work the piece out.

The tweezers I used looked something like this: http://www.esslinger.com/images/products/detail/57.505.jpg

What kind of glue should I use? I have plastic cement for scale models. Will that work?

You'll probably want some glue for acryllics, so the clear parts don't go foggy!

Or.. you have an opportunity to ,magnetize it.. remove the part under the ship, and get a couple flat magnets and super glue them to the ship and the top of the broken peg.. remember to make sure they are set right so they fit right and won't repules, instead of attract..

Depending on if this is a fighter or bigger ship will decide the magnets you use..

Glue a toothpick or an expendable needle to the little part of the broken peg you can reach. Once it dries, use the toothpick/needle to just pull it on out.

I had the same problem with my medium transport but there is an easy way to solve it!

You need:

A Candel

A Needle

A tongs

And abrasive paper

1) Make the needles pinpoint rought and put some notches in it with the tongs

2) Make the needle very hot with holding the pinpoint over the burning candle

3) Sting the needle in the center of the brocken piece you want to get out

4) Let it cool down for 3 min

5) Carefully pull it out

6)If it did not work do it again with care sometimes you ne more atemts.

See picture for results ;)

That reminds me. I need to fix* one of my Z-95's where the base peg actually split. It seems some of the pegs are too wide. I've had to be careful putting my ships on bases. Don't force those pegs in! Find one that fits.

*I'm probably going to razor saw/drill out the whole thing and put in a new peg.

Use the force..

Absolute masterclass in necromancy going on here...

Could of sworn you said you also needed a young priest and an old priest.

I used a lighter to heat up a piece of wire, so it actually melts into the broken piece, so you don't need to drill a hole.

What do you want to say with that?
