Using stress on the opposition to max out your game.

The following is a list I have been thinking about for a while and have run through several connotations in "theory wars".

The idea is to stress your opponent as much as possible.

Advanced Sensors, Ion Cannon, Gunner, Rebel Captive, Engine Upgrade

Let's look at each ship.

Kath has a great ability to stress her enemies. Marksmanship will generate the crit needed and will often get cancelled. If the crit is cancelled then we can move to Gunner. At this point, we can either shoot the same target for possible damage, or a possible second stress token if another crit gets cancelled. The second option is to target another ship in Kath's fire arcs to hope and stress another ship.

The Black Squadron pilot is there to lend covering fire for the shuttle, along with help from Kath. At PS 6, we might also be able to keep him at R1 for that extra die.

The Omicron pilot will cause stress on the first ship that fires on it per round, which is a highly useful talent. The Ion cannon will be used on the first shot if we have a stressed ship in range and arc, this is where shooting last helps us. If the Ion Cannon misses, we have Gunner for pure damage.

I opted for Advanced Sensors over Fire Control Systems to allow greater flexibility on movement and actions. It makes using the hard stop and hard 2 turns much more viable (proved out in other builds)

Overall, the list has staying power and can really mess with the opponent.

I like it, it would for sure force you to rethink your game plan going up against it.

I like the concept, it's been one that's been thrown around since the start of W3, but I'm not too sure on the execution. The OGP isn't the first priority, so he won't be shot at in the beginning. Meanwhile, you're 'hoping' that a crit is cancelled, which likely means you're not doing any damage with Kath. I'd much rather be doing damage than stressing a ship. Which is really where it falls apart. Try it by all means, but I think you'll find that the paper craft of it is much better than the execution.

I enjoy the idea of causing stress, but still think that (until the Defender drops, at least) 3-ship imperial is the realm of 2x Firespray + something. In that vein, I really like the Lady in Red squad idea that was floating around a few weeks ago:

Kath with Ion Cannon and Rebel Captive

TIEs for filler (my favorite variation is Backstabber, Dark Curse, and a PS6 Interceptor (either Royal Guard or Saber w/ Vet Instincts))

In this team, Kath is the source of all the stress tokens, and she also makes the stress tokens more painful due to the ion cannon, while the TIEs chase other ships around, cover Kath, and kill things

great list, have played something similar. know any rebel lists that can farm stress? for the rebel transport/slicer tools ROFL-stomp? I would assume epic play is more than 100 points, so start with that plus the 37 for the transport.

I had a lot of fun just putting that Captive on Kath's ship and making fighting with it at all a stressful experience. No need to base your entire build around it.
