Tye Wing vs Academy Tie vs Bandit Z95

By Viceroy Bolda, in X-Wing

So I've been working on Tye Wing stats and was compairing the two base ships for empire/rebel. Compare the 12 point ships: the academy tie, PS1, 2-3-3-0 evade, focus, br and the Bandit Z95 PS2, 2-2-2-2, TL focus.

The Z95 gives up an agility and hull for a +1PS, missile slot, and two shields.

I'm trying to base the Tye on this. The Z's strength is its survivability with shields. The ties strength is in its agility. The tye's uniqueness cannot be in its hull because they were make-shift craft, so they might redeem their worth through firepower and difficulty to hit.

My proposed Tye Wing stats are
PS1
2-2-2-0
foc, br, boost, maybe TL
cannon slot, sensor slot
y-wing dial
12 points

With lower agility than a tie and no shields compared to a Z, the Tye will go down fast. It would not be a great swarm ship, but it could be a fair support ship. Because tyes were assembled from parts of imperial and rebel wrecks, why couldn't they be a blend of their stregths AND their weaknesses?

I eventually want to make cards for PS1-4, maybe a couple of named pilots. Was thinking about giving ept to PS 3 & 4.

Thoughts? Thanks.

I thought the stat that they had before made more sense.. They should be truelly rubbish, they are always in every bit of media portrayed that way. They should be the ultimate swarm ship, IE cheap as chips, but should die to a sneeze.

And a Cannon Slot?! and a Sensor Slot?! ... Tie Wings are meant to be made out of junk, how are they going to have systems so advanced that only the latest Rebel ships have them?

You ever pick through the trash? There's good stuff in there! Battlefield pickens can lead to a lot of goodies.

They did have cannons in the storyline. Just sayin'.

And the good stuff would have been taken by the bosses for their ships... Which are unlikely to be Die-Wings.

That is a good point. Maybe those fancy shmancy upgrades could be a perk for a named pilot who might fly a tye with +1hull/shield.

What about actions? with 2 evade, 2 hull and no shields it will die fast. I think the actions should make up for something.

Well again these things are meant to handle like a pig.. so I would just go with Focus on the core ship.. and then instead of giving them access to System Upgrades.. unlock things like Barrel Rolls, Missile Slots, Cannon Slots or Target Locks on the named characters. To represent them bolting on additional systems, or getting things to work that don't work on the bog standard version.
