Defender maneuver speculation.

By That One Guy, in X-Wing

So apparently the TIE Defender is indeed going to be a thing. Additionally it boasts "a maneuver never before seen on a dial". SO, what does everyone think?

I'm kinda wondering if it might be some kind of slalom move, like a compound turn (much like a person might achieve by turning and then boosting in another direction, but possibly with a sharper turn than a 1 bank).

Could be a Loop that brings you back into plane of the game behind it's starting position.

That would be cool.. maybe an action like a barrel roll but front or back.. possibly a 1 straight or 2 straight..

The question is what happens if it collides.

I'm betting on 3 or 4 straight, or bank with an evade token granted in the maneuver.

Hmmmm good question.. maybe end up face to face in normal overlap.. you just don't get the 'k-turn' effect.. if you get my meaning..

Could be a 4 bank, could also be a 1 K-turn. I seem to remember Corran Horn in one of the books flying one, and using the tractor beam to grab a space station to make him basically do a 1k. I bet he was stressed during it too.

What about a Zero K turn? Just flips over. Or maybe a Zero 45* turn?

Probably nothing that needs a maneuver template, didn't see one in the preview..

They hid it so as not to give away the surprise lol

Maybe.. tricksy hobbitses.....

Possibly a maneuver that uses 2 short moves.. a left bank and right bank 1 that gives a side slipe.. anything is possible...

The 1 k turn has been done in Aces so I think possibly not that, the 0 k turn, could be cool, but maybe impractical or stress creating.. maybe stressless k turns.. ooooooooooo that could be jice...

Well, whatever it is I'm excited to fly them.

Well, the 1k is in aces, but it's not on a dial. I was thinking that may be why they worded it that way.

I was betting on 1k or white kturn but seeing no evade action I'm betting on an "evasive manuever" rather than a color /distance combo.

"yellow" color that counts as a white/green that also gives you an evade token.

It will prob get a manuver called Wotan Weave that kind looks like a rolling scissor. The mini will come with a new popout manuver rail.

I'm pretty sure it will be a new maneuver type... So far we have Koiogran, Straight, Bank, Turn and Stationary.

So it could be something like Drift or Loop..

Never seen on the dial?

Well I guess any kind of white K-Turn would qualify although to me just changing the color of a maneuver doesn't really make it a new maneuver. Have we seen a speed 1 K-Turn yet because that may be the only maneuver template that isn't used with a dial yet. I'm wondering if it will not be some speed 4 banks or maybe even turns. If it had Boost on it I wouldn't expect them as much but if the Defender is supposed to be as fast as an Interceptor that is hard to do without the boost option.

Would they show a new maneuver template in the picture if it had one?

I think they would.. but you never know.. they might hold out, but really haven't so far.. sooo..

Now, what are some good repaints for these.. hmmmm.. Rodent?? got any ideas???

Hard to believe they will have an additional move template that comes with the ship. Just for the packaging concerns. How would you fit a 4 bank template in the standard packaging of a small ship?

So I am thinking it is along the lines of using the templates in a different way....ie, Lorrir.

Perhaps a banked k-turn. Perhaps a 1 or 2 speed backwards maneuver.

Well I'm definitely having at least one Emperor's Guard Defender.. and the rest done as the 23rd Womp Rats with white cockpit and Imperial symbol on sails..

The Phantoms I think I'll keep close to canon.

The Z-95, I will be doing at least one in the colors of Isplourrdacartha Estillo's household, gold and blue with the snake like side designs.

For the E-Wing I'm not sure.

could be a barrel roll using the 2 straight movement template?

That seems like more of an action to me...

They didn't list one in the detailed contents of the package either.

1 K-turn would be my bet, then.

My thoughts are that it needs to be performable with existing templates.

Therefore, we have:
Koiograns performable with Boosts or Turns

Stationary Koiograns
Backwards maneuvers

Or simply a maneuver we've seen before that isn't stressful (Koiograns and Stops are the only always-reds shown thus far).
