Other then that, I would also love to see more of the Bountyhunter ships, Hound's Tooth, the YG-2000 (I think?), Punishing one from Dengar and then there was that odd little Mist Hunter thingy...
Hoping wave 5 brings the Assault Gunboat and the TIE Avenger for the Empire.. Both are iconic ships for anyone that has played the sim games, plus in the game they often deployed together since they complemented each others abilities well.
As for the similarities between the Avenger and the X1, the Avenger is a very different ship. The Avenger has the same attack power and manueverability as an Interceptor, while having less armour and more shields than an X1. Plus it could carry missiles, torpedos, and bombs on occasion. It was also the first Imperial fighter to mount a tractor beam. I imagined 3-3-2-3, but the E-Wing ended up with those stats...

If I had my druthers, we'd get the following:
Empire:
VT-49 Decimator
Assault Gunboat
Rebel
Nova Courier
YT-2000 (complete with Ace Azzameen pilot card and Emkay crew card)
I doubt they'd do two large ships for one side, though. Still, I'd rather have the 2000 than the 2400. I've always preferred that design to the offset cockpit.

The Cylon Heavy Raider from the new BSG is very cool, though!
Dream Ships: Wild Karrade and Hound's Tooth (both would be awesome, each faction gets one). Honestly this would be amazing. Both ships are great.
Wave 5:

Punishing One
All bounty hunter wave. The problem is that the outrider is the only rebel ship. I think I read once that Dengar and punishing one had rebel ties, maybe it could be the second rebel ship.
Another problem is that the outrider and the Falcon look SOOO similiar. Outrider also would be unable to have a turret. But maybe it could have mines?
I'm also pretty sure they will do a third faction soon. I think it will probably be Black Sun. When introducing a new faction all four ships in that wave will probably be that faction.

Problem with the Star Viper/Virago is that it's absolutely MASSIVE (like, twice the height of the Imperial Shuttle, easily), for a much smaller set of upgrades. Oh, except for those ludicrously oversized guns that can destroy basically anything.
It's a bit of a "Mary Sue" ship, really...
I would like to see dark troopers, yeah I know they aren't actually ships but they would be hard as all get out to hit, probably do minimal damage but would be cheap to field and have a 360 degree arc

Escort shuttle and stormtrooper transport for scenarios. Assault gunboat for Imperial ion cannon hilarity. Corvette options/crew for both sides.
Another possible option for the Empire could be the Rogue Shadow from Force Unleashed

I never really thought about it until people were speculating as far back as pre wave 3, but now that the defender and the phantom are in I wouldn't mind seeing it in the game
The TIE avenger is possible, and the assault gunboat and missile boat could be put in but at that point you are almost guaranteed to get too much role overlap
