Having to get eight Z-95s and enough of the others to make a 100 point squad is really going to hurt me. But its must be done.
I think I can make out one of the cards on the Z-95 saying "WINGMAN"
ANd maybe the other one saying "Decit"

Looks like this is probably what they are.. check out this page for a really good over view of what there is..
I still can't belive it!!!
The Defender and the Phantom in a single wave!
Let the Rebels have their E-Wings and swarmers and transports
... the Empire will dominate the space
I don't play X-Wing.
I've never played X-Wing.
I'm not sure I'll ever play X-Wing.
But....
I really really really like the look and sound of that E-Wing. Think I prefer the X-Wing to the Z-95 though. As for the Empire stuff, that Tie Defender looks great and the Phantom is....different....but in a good way.
Sorry for gatecrashing but when I came to FFG this morning I was hit in the face with all this X-Wing awesomeness which, truth be told, I've not really taken much interest in....beyond the Tantive IV ship being a possible option for the Rogue Trader RPG.
Still, I could do with some fighters, bombers and assault boats....with a rules system to represent attack craft battles without all those RPG complicated rules.
So the news attracs even dedicated non X-Wing players

Even when I don't appreciate a game, I still can't resist cool miniatures.
The new maneuver: my guess is a white k-turn.
This announcement just annoys me. FFG have not got the Aces, Transport or Tantive IV on the shelves yet. Honour outstanding commitments before making new ones! FFS.
I see your point, and don't completely disagree (I put money down for the Transport at my FLGS a long time ago), but I'm pretty excited. Given their track record, I don't really see FFG getting these out to the general public in Q2, but I could see them having limited supplies at GenCon and them pushing back the general release date to Q3.
My initial wants list:
4 Headhunters
2 E-Wings
2 Phantoms
1 Tie Defender
That may change based on more info, but right now it looks like that is what I'll have to clear space in my box for.
Sounds like it will be a fantastic year for this game. Can't wait!
Made my whole weekend!!!
Any speculation/decoding what the other pilots are?
We can see that the Defender squadrons are Delta and Onyx. The PS8 is almost certainly Rexler Brath
The Phantom's PS3 is Sigma, but what are the named ones? Note that the PS6 pilot name is extremely short - we can barely see the unique dot there while about 2/5 of the pilot name line is visible. Any known pilots with three letter names? The other one is quite short as well and starts with "W... or "M... as far as I can see.
E-Wing: PS3 Blackmoon Squadron? PS1 Elite ..... Pilot ? PS8 could it be Gavin Darklighter?
Edited by IffoAnyone know what the half-hidden card under the Tie Defender profile is?
It looks like Predator...
???
wish they released an Ion pulse torpedo!! Thinking a Y wing with Ion turret and Ion pulse weapons would be the ultimate "big base" ship killer. provided you have an E or B wing ready to sweep in for the
Coup de grâce!!!Speak for yourself will, the TIE Defender is every Imperial ace's dream. And the Empire needs heavy fighters and some shinanigans to put the Rebels down without relying on bounty hunters.
I am not an only-movie fan, just to be clear. I love and know my EU as a rightful starwarser.... I was speaking, kind of for the non so hardcore fans
The episode I, II & III, and then Clone Wars are tremendously famous amongst the new generations

TBH, I wouldn't count myself as a huge Star Wars fan (well I now have read tonnes of stuff and know all kind of obscure facts, but before) but the Defender and Z-95 both are well enough known for general people with a passing interest to know.
Honestly I never heard of any of these ships before I started reading the forums. They look very "Star Warsey" to me, though. Somebody has to say it though. The TIE Defender is just plain silly looking.

E-Wing PS1 possibly Knave Squadron, from the Battle of Mon Calamari.
Good call on Gavin Darklighter, he was a senior Rogue when the unit fielded E-Wings (and Tycho Celchu is already out). They didn't use 'em too long, but I can't think of any dedicated E-Wing heroes to put in anywhere close to his stature (even A'baht was a commander first and pilot second). And the name looks right for what you can see on the card.
I'm pretty surprised by the 4 attack on the TIE Phantom. I'm pretty sure in Rebel Assault 2 they only fired 2 laser cannons like a Tie Fighter. Unless they are implied to be super heavy versions, or that there are cannons on all 3 wings that normally go unused but you can combine into a 5 laser shot.
I just want to say this to FFG and all who read this forum......
I have played many miniatures games since the 1980's, and I have not enjoyed a game this much since FASA dropped clan tech into battletech.
that being said, I think I am enjoying this game even more. this wave 4, big ships, and the aces pack is just icing on the cake.
I cannot thank FFG enough for creating something that gets this old guy acting like a kid again.
I don't know about you guys but I just have to make the pewpew sound when my ties shoot at rebel scum. and even make last word statements as my fighters die (but not soontir, he never dies!!!!)
so from a true fan boy.......thank you FFG, keep up the good work
PS: tie droids for wave 5 please
want to see a 10 point or lower ship
I cannot thank FFG enough for creating something that gets this old guy acting like a kid again.
I feel the same way. I haven't let my geek out this much in the prior two decades. But I'm once again making regular trips to the FLGS and buying stuff.
Ya, I'm really hoping for Tie Droids in Wave 5 to fight against the E Wings
I actually started writing a proposal to FFG about their stats, but I have a feeling they are probably ahead of me.

Fantasy Flight Games are already my favourite where games are concerned. I'm quitting Games Workshop rules, and just using the RPG's for my 40K fix.
But Star Wars was my first, and favourite, Science Fiction and now FFG have produced these excellent models. So much so I'm almost tempted to buy:
Tantive IV
Millennium Falcon
Slave 1
3 x HWK
8 x Y-Wings
20 x E-Wings
Since I don't play computer games, play sports or support a Football Team....I should have plenty of hobby budget to collect these by the time the Tantive IV and E-Wings are released.
Even better....I don't have to paint them!
Edited by Roy StoneI think FFG needs to make a new core set with two Z-95 Headhunters and one TIE Defender.
Otherwise, Rebel Swarm will be a big-money squad that's only affordable for those with fat wallets and it'll ruin the game blah blah blah
=P
How quick will the Z-95's be picked up considering you'll need 8 to swarm it up? I'm betting it will be the first mini to sell out because the cost of them is so cheap you'll need more than double the amount of the other expansion packs.
So my list to get becomes:
8 Z-95
3 E-wings
3 Tied Defenders
3-4 Tie phantoms (depending on if the cost are at or below 25pts)
I hope FFG is producing to those ratios as well...
