Wave 4, anyone?

By CrookedWookie, in X-Wing

I can't believe they actually went through with the TIE Phantom.

With 4 attack and Cloak... I think the Phantom can really change up the meta a lot.

That thing has to be super expensive with that kind of power.

The thing is, the Phantom appears to be cheaper than the Defender.

Looks like the cheapest unnamed Phantom will be 25 points. Not sure how much the cloaking device will be on top of that.

While it is only included with Missile carriers, it doesn't mean it can't be used by Torpedo carriers.

if i remember correctly.....didnt the ewing have a design flaw that caused its guns to blow up?

It is, by at least 3 points, perhaps 5. I can't tell for sure if it's 25 of 27 points. But it also looks like the cloak might be an upgrade you have to buy, or at least something you can upgrade so you could go with an expensive cloaked version or a cheaper no-cloak/limited cloak version.

Without the cloak, the Phantom seems to be a over all weaker ship then the Defender. Less HP and 1 less defense dice. At 2/2/2 it's something that could be taken down pretty quickly without anything to make it more survivable.

Stygium particle acceleration looks like it gives you an evade token after doing something I can't read. Last two lines say "you may perform a free evade action."

Now that it won't matter as much we will be getting more advanced sensors ;)

*dances around in his Imperial flight suit*

Here I thought this was just going to be another speculation/wish list thread. The Z-95 and Defender were certainly anticipated even if the Defender stats were argued about. The other two are a bit unexpected but then it was hard to know what to expect.

I wonder if they will be making "extra" Z-95s because they are so much cheaper that people can easily field them in large numbers as opposed to the other ships. Maybe you can field two or three of the other ships but you may want twice that many Z-95s.

About to head off to a long weekend... But I have to say this wave is much more exciting then 3 was for me, and it looks like FFG really did a great job with these new ships.

Very cool new options but nothing that seems like they will make the older ships worthless.

That's what I love about this game. They always do a great job at innovating without making older parts of the game obsolete. Hopefully they can keep it up.

On a more serious note, one of the upgrade cards is an Ion Pulse Missile.

I'm thinking the Rebellion will now completely phase out Y-wings and switch to A-wings for Ion duty.

Off the top of my head, I think it was the A-9... but my head is frequently incorrect.

Here's also one of the E-wing pilots and an R7 Astromech.

What intrigues me about R7-T1, is that I can put it on Wedge, with Adv. Proton Torpedoes, gain a target lock at Range 2, Boost, and end up perfectly in range to fire my APTs. AND it frees up the need to put an Engine Upgrade on it.

That also appears not to SPEND the target lock being fired.

Well, these are only one use. The Y's with a turret can use it multiple times.

Bingo. Which would make it a nice addition to a HSF build. You can save that target lock to reroll your results.

Man, these ships are making me super happy. Love all four choices (always loved the design of the Tie Phantom).

Little worried to see how 6 Z95's with conc missiles at 96 points will turn out, thankfully the rebels don't have Jonus :P

@SpectreSix,

Not in my fleet. Y-Wings can hit more than once.

Me and my Interceptors can handle anything the Rebellion slings at us. Even if it is an unending hellish swarm of old Z-95s.

Ahhh I was thinking since Y-wings were slower they are more easily taken out than the more agile A-wing.

My tax return is now officially spent

no i dont see an evade action on the defender cards, but it comes with an evade token????

i wonder if one of the higher skilled pilots has an ability to give it evade?????
