Wave 4, anyone?

By CrookedWookie, in X-Wing

I'm curious who the TIE Defender named pilots will be. The two best known pilots - Darth Vader and Marek Stele - are both already piloting the TIE Advanced X1.

Rexler Brath, almost for sure. He's Onyx Leader at the Battle of Endor. The "we're either the best or the luckiest" quote is his. The second one might be Ysanne Isard's TIE/D commander. Don't have the book in front of me at the moment.

I can't find anything suggesting she ever flew one though, she was in intelligence she wasn't a pilot. She was a commander for a facility for them but that was LONG after the OT.

No, but she did have a group of TIE Defenders flying for her later on. He was referring to the commander of that group.

Ah OK, that would make more sense. Much later on but the pilot might well have been flying them since Endor.

I can't wait to have a z-95 swarm matched up against a TIE swarm. It's gonna be such a mess..... awesome mess...... awesome, expensive mess.

I would predict that the TIEs would have the advantage: they're simply built for swarms. The missiles are good, but if most of the swarm is evading often it's more than possible for at least half the missiles to wiff completely.

R7-T1 is stupid good! I mean good lord, wedge with push and R7T1?????

I like R7-T1 on Dutch, though. Boost on a Y-wing!!!!

Prediction: Munitions Failsafe allows you to fire your missiles if you get destroyed.

Has anyone yet noticed one of the TIE Defender EPTs seems to be named "Outmaneuver"?

27 points for the PS1 E-Wing, hahahaha, insane

Looks like it comes with the new Flechette Torpedoes that also come in the Rebel Transport.

I wonder what they mean by "The TIE defender is a straight-forward fighter with strong shields, weapons, agility, and a maneuver never before seen on a dial. "

my guess would be a nasty 1 koiogran

On a more serious note, one of the upgrade cards is an Ion Pulse Missile.

I'm thinking the Rebellion will now completely phase out Y-wings and switch to A-wings for Ion duty.

don't let that fool you, the ion turret is still very potent and not just a one trick pony

and those Y-wings can take a beating as well

Heh. They failed to be phased out of the Rebellion's use in the movies, and i doubt they'll be phased out of this game. Which is fine for me, i love firing on craft with only one evade die.

The PS8 Z-95 Headhunter pilot looks like "Airen...", so likely General Airen Cracken, a longtime Rebel Alliance/New Republic intelligence officer and Headhunter pilot (he is also Lando's dorsal gunner at Endor).

We already know the PS5 E-Wing is General Etain A'baht, the Dormean New Republic General from the Black Fleet Crisis.

I'm not ready for this! I still need to get two Imperial Aces and work on a sweet Tie/In build!

Looks great though!

i think its a 1bank or 2 bank K-Turn

Updating Wave 4 Summary as we find out more! Leave a comment if I messed something up.

Great article.

Ion cannon makes sense for the Defender in the context of the games it came from.

every thing is beautiful!!!! in its own wayyyyyy!

every thing is beautiful!!!! tie defenders todayyyy!!!!

need sleep, later

that would also be really cool

Tie Defender is coming, good. That's my favourite space fighter in the Star Wars universe.

I'm tempted to get an E-wing and make it into a permanent 5 dice (6 dice at range 3) defense (PTL + Stealth Device + R2-F2 and have targeting computer to have easy targeting) (Etahn 32pts + PTL 3pts + Stealth 3pts + R2-F2 3pts + FCS 2pts = 43pts, expensive, but will be fun because all of these upgrades).

Looks like the Z-95 swarm will shoot before the Tie Swarm with its 2 piloting skill instead of the Tie's 1. Very interesting development..

So is piloting skill 3 considered elite? because I see that the Tie Defender and E-Wing does not have skill level 4 pilots, the only ones with skill 4 and higher are the unique pilots.

Edit: TC into FCS [Fire Control System], got the terms mixed up. Thank you for the correction.

The E-Wing has target lock, so no need for a targeting computer

True, I'm just trying new things out, with the FCS, I can spend the action for something else.

Edit: Got the terms mixed up, TC should be FCS (fire control system), and now changed to FCS.

Are you thinking of Fire Control Systems?

Right, thank you, Fire Control System, I don't know why I got them mixed up.

Just wanted to point out that W4 is introducing (in the Z95) EPTs that are combat-scenario themed in Decoy and Wingman. I find this exciting because, depending on what they do, it introduces narrative elements to the game with practical consequences. I think this will add some flavor to the straight up dogfights and lists.

It's ok. I once said Recon Specialist when I meant Intelligence Agent. Big difference.

Yeah i noticed that too. Not sure what the wingman card will do though. I can't wait until they release all of these cards and bits in a way that allows us to frikkin' read them!
