Immunity / Choose

Can I get clarification re "choose" and immunity

There's some event card where you have to choose and discard a location

If my House of Dreams location is the only location that I have, do I have to choose it or is it still immune

Someone was suggesting that it is not immune as I am the one doing the choosing - even though I have no other choice

thanks

if it's an event card, then it still immune, providing your opponent triggered the effect.

However, if you are the one that triggered/played this event, then it would not be immune, as it's not an "opponent(s)... effect"

Please post the event card you are speaking of and elaborate more on the situation. Who played the event is an integral part of giving you the correct answer for example.

For all we know, you are talking about an Epic Battle like Battle for Shield Islands which is very different from Condemned by the Council when it comes to the answer.

Immunity does two separate things:

1. Makes the immune card an illegal target of whatever it is immune to, and

2. Allows the immune card to ignore the direct effects of whatever it is immune to, targeted or not.

Generally speaking, when determining what is "choosing" a card as a target, you look at what is allowing/making someone choose, not who is making the actual choice. When a player is told to "choose," it is still the effect that is targeting the chosen card, not the player.

Sorry for the sloppy post - was a last minute thing
