This is star wars, don't your parties spend a lot of time in cantinas? Do they not get invited to parties thrown by hutts? What about a grabbing a nerf burger or bantha dog while at a swoop or pod racing meet? Heck, in the last session of my campaign a little over a year ago (when my son was born and I turned over the gm reigns to a player who started a kotor era campaign) npc sabaac ringer npc lando calrissian got food poisoning at the boonta's eve sabaac tournament and needed a PC to sub in for him.

I admit I usually cutscened through hyperspace though.

I had a whole adventure that started with poisoned meat pies being sold by a food speeder at the landing field (calling it a starport would be very generous). It was an attempt by a shady group to make stealing a starship off of that field easier as the crew were occupied with spewing from both ends. The PCs came to the aid of the starship's crew and things went on from there.
