More Factions in this Awesome Universe !!

as the title tells u. i want more factions to collect for my x Wing universe like Pirate ships, KUS and the Republicans. now imagine how cool it would be if u fight with ure Rebels against Republic or KUS and so on o.o that would be awesome and would give even the younger players a reason to start this game iam 21 and i grew up with star wars but most of the youngsters in our warhammer 40k group 2 out of 8 are 15 years old and are one of these Clone wars kiddies.

it even would make tournaments now more competative.

imagine pirates can join the already Usual Touarnement set up and the Epic sized one

and then imagine a Toarnement only for Kus vs Republic aswell where again Pirates can join in even in thier Epic sized battles.

and then the best of all the WHAT IF ??!! touarnement league.

the WHAT-IF should play in no real Timeline but gives all of these 5 Factions a chance to fight each other to the very top so the ones that collect imperium and rebels from the very first day can fight the newcomers that do collect the clone wars series. how cool would that be ? i can imagine that republic will be like rebels playwise and the KUS like Imperium cause of thier shier numbers but whats with the pirates a mix of Empire and Rebels ? well why not captured tie fighters could be a possibility. well the balancing is again up to the guys from Fantasy flight games that did so far a real good job and i cant wait to see this happen in the future . hope u guys agree with me here leave behind ure thoughts and suggestions ^^

I think they could do a bit of a mix, the Black Sun did hire pirates and Bounty Hunters, and definitely did work with Smugglers..

So you could easily do a mixed Underworld faction. I don't feel the game needs 4 or 5 factions. but 3 would definitely give more scope for matchups.

I agree there should be an "Underworld" Faction that sums up Hutts, pirates, and Black Sun/Bounty Hunters etc. Also there could maybe be something like "merc" units that both sides can take.

I'm really liking the Mercs idea. Having a neutral faction that you could hire from would be awesome.

Coupled with rules that you have to include more faction ships then Mercs in your squad or maybe Full Mercs.

Or include a rule/mini-game during squad creation that would simulate some kind of auction for the MErcs services. The player that "give" the most gets to recruit a Merc first.

We have been trying to make rules for a third "fringe" faction which can be used by either side or as a stand alone force. Using mostly 3D printed ships or scratch made minis, we have done well. I printed off the Corellian Patrol Cutter from Gosric and added it to our fringe faction last night. Here are the stats we cam up with:

I would like to see Zanns Consort. Besides Black Sun they have M.M. build their own ships. Out of all the groups here Zanns is the most militaristic. His planes were to kill off the Hutts, the Alliance, Imperials and I think Black Sun.

Add in the Zann consortium! Rihkxyrk and Skiprays and Starvipers, oh my!

yeah typer zann is ***** awesome he would be awesome to use on the battlefield but i realyl want these what if scenarious happen i mean come on KUS vs tie swarms !!

the nice thing with a generic underworld/fringe faction is, that it would be so easy to build it up from nothing to a competitive faction to the other two. Just introduce a starter box with 2 unique ships and add unique pilots and some reuse rules for existing ships (YT,firespray, hwk are easy fits).

the z95 headhunter is the best example to put in more factions well let me explain why. the z95 were mostly used for planetary defense and from bandits that got some of these fighters in thier hand then why not releasin some multi faction boxes ???!!

multi faction u ask ? well the answer is simple releasing an expansion pack with a recolored z95 for plantery defense and pirate bandits. the pack should have only generic pilot cards and the upgrade cards we know that will come along the z95 maybe the pirates should have some modified z95 well thats up to fantasy flight games.

Neutral forces : PS2 ( Rookie Pilot ), PS4 ( Veteran Pilot ), PS6 ( Elite Pilot ) with the elite upgrade symbol to make him a bit more unique

Pirate Forces: PS2 ( Bandit Pilot ), PS4 ( Bandit Veteran ) PS6 ( Bandit Leader ) with elite upgrade symbol

the first fighters from the two other factions that could join in the fight imagine naboo fighters on you`re table or mandalorian defense fighters etc etc. the thing is that there is so much to get from. make 2 colored z95 in one box like the imperial aces and call the box Unseen forces or something like that.

then again why not releasing a 2nd core set alongside the first one that includes Pirates vs Civil forces like the starviper vs 2 naboo fighters or something like that. the core set 2 should be build like the first one but with a different colored fire template with yellow for pirates and grey white for planetary defense forces and make the fire arcs of these factions in that colors aswell.

while KUS should have orange fire arcs and Republic light blue ones speaking of these 2 u can release a third core set including them with a fire template in these both colors.

+ imagine the 2 new middle sized ships we can get... KUS with the gunship and the Republic with their Transport Gunship that one from the battlefront series. and the sheer amount of new fliers.

well yes they will be in thier own era like the rebels vs empire but civil forces and pirates existed in both eras so its not impossible for them to fight in or against Republic/empire/KUs and Republic those 2 very neutral forces could get a seat in the tournamants. speaking of tournaments the WHAT IF ones would be i guess the most one ones. because of 6 Factions that could colide into each other u would never know who ure up against and are forced to create a decent all around squadron well these are my thoughts. any suggestions are welcome hombres

besides i finnaly made it that far that 4 of my warhammer 40k club started to play x wing with me now ^^ well we still play 40k on sundays but the fridays are our new X wing days ^^

PS 1 or 2 ships of any kind (but no more than 1 modell per ship-typ)

+ the option to use 2 modifications per ship.

I'll repeat what I said in the Wave 5 thread. I'd love to see Wave 5 introduce a third faction. There are enough pirates, smugglers, and bounty hunters in the Star Wars Universe to make a Mercenary faction. This faction would be able to be included in both Rebel and Empire lists. Here's how it could be done:


Wave 5 ships could be the CloakShape Fighter, Cutlass-9 Patrol Fighter, StarViper Heavy Fighter, and a (big) Ghtroc 720.


Follow up with a Wave 5.5, Mercenary Aces. Give us a repaint of the Z-95, but more importantly give us new merc pilots for the existing Z-95, HWK-290, YT-1300, and Firespray. This has the added bonus of allowing a few "fixes" to the HWK-290 so it sees some more table time.

There seem to be several threads on this topic. Hopefully FF will take notice. I know they have stated they have no plans to add factions but hopefully that will change in the future.

It's difficult because aside from the universe we live in, the Star Wars universe is the most vast. Then you have cross era issues to deal with.

Here's my issue with another faction in this game: how do you support it? I'm not talking about a potential sister, PT era game, but within this game. We are starting to get more releases, but I don't think it is nearly enough to support another faction. Can give representation to all factions within a 4 ship Wave? Will a new faction, after Wave 4, be able to even stand up to the sheer variety that the existing factions can bring to a game?

If FFG were vomiting product like Wizkids, then maybe I could see another faction, because then a lack of representation in a Wave wouldn't be as bad. But with maybe 2 Waves year, and the side products likely to stick to the popular movie ships, I don't see how another faction can keep up. And all the Fringe type ships can fit into the existing factions just fine.

I agree with you that they would probably come out with card sets.

FFG pretty pretty please make stats for the z-ceptor and tye.

I like just having the 2 factions.

If you have more than that....it will make balancing the game a lot harder.

The supreme balance this game has is what I like the most about it and would hate to loose that aspect. (I come from warhammer)

It is going to be hard enough for them the more waves they bring out.
