Storing damage and upgrade cards

By Nerf Herder, in X-Wing

I'm considering the nine pocket versions of the binders for my pilot cards next. Maybe one for each faction, which would give plenty of room to grow into and prevent having opponents to share the ships. If I do, I'm going to print and use those wonderful maneuver cards floating around here to mark each section while also providing the ship dial at a glance while building a squad.

Thanks to all of you for these wonderful topics with all these great ideas, which have helped improve the gaming experience of this already super fun game for me and my opponents.

You'd only need a single nine pocket binder to hold both factions. Mine should handle all the way up to wave four and then I will shift the upgrade cards into their own binder. I put a copy of each of the rules cards into the first six pockets on the first page for easy reference.

I agree that there are plenty of pockets to hold both factions, but I supply the entire game for my friends and I to play. So having the factions in seperate books will mean we can both build squads at the same time. Granted, there will still be a tug of war for the upgrades, but I even have two of the smaller books for those so some parallel work can be done.

I also found that since everything is so organized, I'm including all my duplicate unique cards in these binders. Normally I had these set aside for storage, but I've had a change of heart now that they aren't realty getting in the way. With multiplayer games as options, I felt it would be better to have them on hand as to not limit options.

Gah... thanks to this thread (and amazon's easy impulse purchasing ability) I just bought a 4 pocket binder. I haven't been too keen on my storage solution for them and have been looking for something better for awhile. I had to go with the 4 (even though I really wanted the 9 in leather) so it will fit in the main compartment of my box standing up (the foam only takes 8'' which leaves ~2'' of a gap at the top. I currently have all the rule books, squad / TO sheets printed out, and the large bases / ship inserts up there... the upgrade binder should fit with all of that there).

I'm hoping it should greatly improve my current system. I used poster board to cut out a custom sized box, and then made folders for each type. So it's not that hard for me to find the specific card I'm looking for, but it's not particularly easy, and no one else can find anything in that setup. The question now becomes - what do I do with the space that just opened up!?!?! Oh the possibilities!

Haha I can beat that, I just got three! Since I own everything my group uses, Ive been slowly getting a better storage method, since I have to move it between houses constantly. Been using Deckboxes for the Pilot and Upgrade cards, but this solution seemed far better, although after calculating, I'd only have room for another 30-40 upgrade cards in one binder, so I might have to doublestack, or limit repeating copies.

Anyone knows if the new backsides can be printed from somewhere?

Like the Energy cards and cannons/lasers backsides.

Thx!

I went a different route than just going with a normal binder. Opting for a three ring portfoilo with a zipper, filling it with the ultra pro slide-loading pages (which do hold cards in sleeves). This way, in the odd case that they did not want to stay in the sleeves, they wouldn't end up flying every which way. The one I picked up is managing to hold everything so far, but may have to pick up another, depending on what Waves 6-7 bring.

Thank you, this thread has been useful and informative. Have ordered myself a binder. For some reason, the green ones were £4 less than the other colours, so mine is in green!

Will my cards fit? All of my small cards are in FFG Mini-European sized sleeves, so they're a little bigger than the cards. I don't mind this because then it's really easy to tell which cards are mine and which belong to someone else.

Will this be a problem fitting them into the binder?

I'm not sure about the sizes - is that sleeve not the standard one for upgrade cards (yellow label)? If it is it fits.

No, they make different sizes for different games and such.

Apparently the Euro sleeves are larger than the Standard sleeves. I've got all my upgrade and damage cards in Standard sized sleeves, which leaves virtually no room for the card itself to slide around inside.

From Rogue's description, the Euro is slightly bigger.

Try searching for business card binders.

Staples and Amazon have them in-stock.

Thanks for the tips!
