I had battle foam custom cut to store ships in two core boxes and have a pro-binder for pilot cards. Is there a good option for safely storing the smaller cards in sleeves?
Storing damage and upgrade cards
I have an Ultra Pro binder that has the opening on the sides. I slide two of the upgrade cards into a single sleeve in the Ultra Pro.

Yeah I have 2 of the 4 slot ones, one for ships one for upgrades and they are great.
If you have a normal sized deck box, they fit PERFECT flat going down. As in the cards will be facing up, I could get a picture if my words don't explain the image well.
I use a pro binder too. I'll be honest though, since the slots are too big the cards to come a little loose and stop being parallel. Messes with my OCD.

I don't find it a major issue, I only occasionally have to redress a card that has slid a bit.. it's not a common occurrence.

It hasn't particularly worried me yet either and I couldn't find a more preferable solution that didn't involve having to dig through piles of cards to find the ones you wanted, or waste lots of space in storing them. I suspect that the Ultra Pro binder should last me up until Wave Four, but I'll probably have to get another one after that point.
I use the card binder myself, I don't find the 2 upgrade cards per slot to be a problem, they don't move much. The biggest problem is when I want the gunner and he's 'behind' Luke.
But IMO it's a much better way to keep the cards then a card box, because you can find what you want so much faster then you could in a box.
Do any of the binders fit cards IN card sleeves?
Yeah, mine are all in sleaves
Mine too....
Everyone in our area are now using a 4-Pocket Pro Binder for their upgrades. They are side loading, rather than top loading so it's easy to slide two cards into each pocket, and they don't move around much at all. This booklet has been in and out of my bag for about a month now and no issues other than occasionally having to reposition a card. They also have a elastic strap to keep it closed. And easily have enough room for all your upgrades. I have pages left and that is having spaces left for getting extra upgrades in the future.

I know some will want to burn me as a heretic for this...
But I didn't sleeve my cards. As long as you're a little careful with them keeping them in the binder when they're not being used is IMO protection enough.

You CLEARLY are not married to my wife.
Err, wait...

Well I mostly play with friends at someone's house... So we don't have many if anyone watching. But you're right it only takes one accident to ruin the cards.
You CLEARLY are not married to my wife.
Well yeah... But if I was, that would mean I'm you, and that would be weird...

You see that would be bigamy, which to be honest I'm not against (when I find the right 3 or 4 women, I might just settle down).... and think of all the benefits... you wouldn't have to go out to get a game of X-Wing.
(when I find the right 3 or 4 women, I might just settle down)....
Speaking as the father of 2 girls... 3 women in my life is plenty thank you very much. At least in this case I can tell 2 of them to go away and they in theory have to listen to me...
3-4 of them that I can't make go to their room... No I'll pass. No amount of X-Wing is worth it.
I'll have to pick up one of the 4pocket binders. thanks guys
They make a pocket page protector for coins/35mm slides that have 2" x 2" pockets. This would leave approximately 0.5" of the card out of the top of the pocket which shouldn't be an issue if you've sleeved the cards.

Ooh, what's that called? Got a link?
I store mine in a plano-type box, my damage cards are in a different case with tokens and range rulers and all that are needed to actually play a game. This is my list building box.

They do one with white on the front and red on the back, which I use for my ships.. If you read from the White side it's Imperial, Red Rebels.

The discussion about these binders swayed me to give them a try. Deck boxes just weren't conducive to browsing and you had to get all the cards out and put them all away which was just a pain. With 49 ships and growing, the stacks of sleeved upgrade cards were just getting unmanageable to handle. There's nothing worse than having to play 52 proton torpedo pickup. I really liked the idea of including any relevant rules cards at the end of each section of upgrade cards, providing just about any information you could possibly need at your fingertips.
These binders organize everything so well that it's fun again to make my squads the old fashion way instead of using a squad building app. I did scan in the back of each upgrade card type so that I could display it in the top left corner of each pair of pages to let you know what section you were in at a glance (yes, I'm so OCD I didn't want to flip any of the real cards upside down).
I'm considering the nine pocket versions of the binders for my pilot cards next. Maybe one for each faction, which would give plenty of room to grow into and prevent having opponents to share the ships. If I do, I'm going to print and use those wonderful maneuver cards floating around here to mark each section while also providing the ship dial at a glance while building a squad.
Thanks to all of you for these wonderful topics with all these great ideas, which have helped improve the gaming experience of this already super fun game for me and my opponents.
