Rebel List, thoughts? - HWK 4 ship list.

By KovuTalli, in X-Wing

So I wanted to make a 4 ship list for rebels, but I don't have all the expos, so don't have all the cards for the B-wing Adv sensors, Biggs, Rookie List.

So I came up with this.

Kyle, Blaster Turret, Moldy Crow (28)

Biggs with R2F2 (28)

Blue Squad Pilot (22)
Blue Squad Pilot (22)

Total: 100 Points.

The Idea is to save up focus on Kyle and dish it out where needed mostly to Biggs as his action will be to get the extra agility dice, and using Biggs to draw Fire for Kyle. While Kyle can use the turret to dish out damage. Added B-wings for tankiness/Fire power.

The main draw back I can see is the low pilot skills across the board and running out of focus on Kyle the plan would be to avoid combat for at least 2 turns to bank focus, that and the lack of upgrades on the B's. Also its a very heavy position based build which could easily be ruined by bumping.

First off, a HWK with a Blaster Turret needs a Recon Specialist or the Moldy Crow Title, or you're not getting to modify your attack.
However, Kyle needs an additional focus every turn to hand out to be useful, so he really needs both, if you're going with the Blaster Turret.

Heck, I like giving him both with the Ion Turret instead.

Secondly, if I'm going to run Kyle with an X-Wing, it's going to be Garven Dreis, hands down.

Unfortunately, you're not going to save up many focus tokens this way. You'll get maybe two before combat, so in one turn you'll hand one to Biggs and burn one for Blaster Turret. After that you have to choose which to do. That's not a good choice. You'd be better off scrapping Moldy Crow for Recon Specialist. But even then you'd be better off spending both for the HWK's attack.

Why don't you consider this then?

Biggs Darklighter (25)
R5 Astromech (1)

Blue Squadron Pilot (22)
Fire-Control System (2)

Blue Squadron Pilot (22)
Fire-Control System (2)

Roark Garnet (19)
Blaster Turret (4)
Recon Specialist (3)

Total: 100

This way, you get to choose a B-Wing to shoot first, Biggs is lighter on points and can maybe scrap a crit. Roark can dish out pain with his turret.

Thanks for the feedback =D

That list sounds like fun Sable. Target locks can be spent to reroll attack dies right? But you have to re roll all the dice? I haven't had the chance to play too many games as there isn't a huge scene near me but it's growing and I've found a place that is running a local/shop tournament so I'm going to enter :)

The target lock can be spent to reroll attack dice that have not been rerolled. You can choose which dice to reroll (except any that have previously been rerolled). You are not required to reroll all the attack dice when spending the target lock.

No, that's Han Solo's ability. You can re-roll any number of your attack dice with a TL, even 0 if you wish.

I like the Roark BBx lists too. My preferred is dagger + adv sens, rookie, blue (Blue Garnet Dagger). Biggs is interesting but I actually want my Xwing in the mid to late game for chases and prefer opponents focusing down a bwing or 2 first.

I've been playing the same list with a Recon Specialist on Kyle instead of the R2F2 on Biggs and it has been working really well. With both Recon and Moldy Crow, you're gonna want to put off engaging your opponent for as long as possible, playing ring-around-the-asteroids the first few turns to build up a lot of focus. With two focus a turn, Biggs is quite tough to take out the first two turns of engagement (assuming you keep him at range 3 while still tanking.

I've tried this before to some very decent success

Kyle Katarn (21)

Ion Cannon Turret (5)

Recon Specialist (3)

Garven Dries

Blue Squadron Pilot (x2)

I quite like Kyle + Garven, I've often thought about changing up the B-Wings, but...meh. I'm still learning this game! Give it a go, the least it can do is help with the old creative juices!
