Hypnos questions

By Guest, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

1. Does the visions of hypnos cards that are drawn remain in play for the entire gate, or are they dsicarded at the end of the turn? if they're so, to where they're discarded?

2. Can all players explore the location listed with an ease or only the first player?

Thx ahead.

Are you serious? Did you actually read the text on Hypnos or one of his cards?

On the guardian sheet itself, the text explains that the effect of an hypnos card ends with the mythos phase.

Next, the hypnos cards begin with the wording "Any investigator who (...)" which, to me, pretty clearly sounds like it's effect is ment for any investigator, and not limited to the first player....

Tnx. And yes, I've read both his cards and his sheet but it wasn't that clear to me. I'm not a native english speaker.

Neither am I. Thought the cards very unambiguous, anyway.

However, if you're really stuck, just ask.

Wait, to where the visions are discarded? the bottom of the deck or the box?

I don't think that is clear but usally you shouldn't run out after all there are 26 of them.

And if I do run out...?

The rules don't say infact its under the FAQ to Kevin but me personally I would just resuffle them and draw if I did run out.

Sir or Madam, your logic is insurmountable.

The guardian sheet says the 1st player draws and places the Hypnos card in front of him. Now, knowing that the Hypnos card does not only offer its bonus to the player who drew it, I suspect that text was written that way so that the players don't discard it back into the deck. So I'd say that once all 26 are gone, you don't get any more. At least you still have his Other World power.

I think Nodens could've came close to Hypnos' power level if you didn't have to discard the blessing of nodens cards once you lose your blessing.

Haven't played with any of them yet, but Bast seems pretty weak. Am I missing something? Bast could've been nice if 1. You didn't have to end your movement in the street in order to gain a bast token. 2. it costs 1 focus rather than it all to keep it and 3. when the story continue is drawn, if the first player doesn't have a bast token then the next player with a bast token gains the favor of bast. Again, am I missing something? Because unless I am, Bast seems horribly weak.

Yeah, Bast is pretty weak. With all the expansions together, the chances of being Beloved are way too low.

We (I) have two house rules that work very well to give Bast a Bast-Boost:

  1. The cost to feed the strays is $1. If you need one round of protection, this works fine; besides, why should stray cat scraps cost more than a plate of food (item)? If later you need to get your focus back for a round, your cost to get back into the Bast Protection agency is just another dollar, instead of two.
  2. If the Story Continues actually does come up, and the First Player doesn't have a Bast token, you keep checking clockwise until you find someone who does. It would suck to have half your characters pay two bucks and sacrifice their focus just to have Story Continues come up and nobody's eligible because none of them are the 1st player. Ick.
