Twilight Imperium in other media

By Orca813, in Twilight Imperium 3rd Edition

Hey all!

I'm a relatively new player of Twilight Imperium, and one of my favorite things about it is the lore and theming. I find this whole universe fascinating.

But that leads me to my question. Why hasn't there been any Twilight Imperium merchandise in other media? It seems like the setting would lend itself well to, at the very least, novels or a pen-and-paper RPG. I also think it would make a great setting for a video game (either a digital version of the game in the grand strategy style of Hearts of Iron, or just an adventure game set in the universe).

Anyway, since the game came out a few years ago at this point, I think they might be actively avoiding licensing the property out, but I have no idea if or why this would be.

I guess I just want more material from this universe because it's awesome, but it seems to be just wishful thinking at this point.

What do you guys think?

There was an RPG at one point. It didn't do very well, from what I hear.

I wouldn't be opposed to a new one, or to other materials such as you suggest.

Second that. I for one would love to read a novel about the rites of passage into adulthood of a young Hacan boy/girl for instance.

my guess would be that its because of the popularity of the game... i live in copenhagen which is not a large city but it aint small either and filled with people who play plenty of should i say "traditional" games, like D&D and such XD but still i feel like im the only one apart from one or 2 that know the game in copenhagen XD and i still havent told my friends that i play with about the story. they still call them, "space lions" , "blue people"/"blue man group" , and "space turtles" XD

I've seen one non game related item I would love to have. I would pay $$ for a fine quality print of the framed art seen in this video. It is to the far right of the screen.

I believe it is the original artwork used in the gamebox and rulebook.
