Smoothest ride in the Galaxy. (Lando Fleetbuild Challenge)

Mostly, in my mind, it's that Lando has the lower pilot skill

Lando has a PS of 7, that's still pretty high, higher then any generic out there. I don't see what his PS has to do with Jan's ability. Unless your trying to use Lando to give Jan another action. But Jan doesn't need extra actions typically, she's there to hand out dice to other ships. Other then that, there's no real interaction between the two that PS has any effect on.

Lando's ability is more of a support thing, then Han's reroll which is clearly offensive. But Han's ability isn't really that good, because it's so seldom used IME.

The problem is that if you're only running 3 ships, and two of them cannot benefit from Lando's ability, then killing the third effectively removes that ability entirely.

Also, Jan, having a higher PS than Lando, means that she'll ALWAYS be stressed when he's rolling out his free action. 'S a no-go, mate.

Here's the squad I've been running for the most of the last year: http://xwing-builder.co.uk/view/3638/falcona-wingx-wing

I had above avarage success with it and it works pretty well.

After Wave 3 I've kind of left it in the hangars, but I still enjoy going back to it :P

Han's ability is situationally better. Sometimes you'll want that re-roll, but not always. The action economy Lando brings to the table is always welcome, easy to achieve, and only ineffectual if he's alone. I fly well enough to get a free action almost every turn, but I can count on one hand the number of times I've bothered (or needed) to use Han's ability.

Only ineffectual if he's alone or you can't do a green. I find being able to deny as many shots on my YT-1300 is pretty essential to keeping them alive.

Lando is certainly more skill intensive than Han, who requires only luck. But it's not very hard to fly Lando using only green maneuvers, and it's even easier with Nien Nunb on board. When you pair Lando with someone like Dutch, who should have an Ion Cannon Turret anyways, you have a considerable amount of freedom to fly however or wherever you like while still taking shots at enemy ships.

The problem is that if you're only running 3 ships, and two of them cannot benefit from Lando's ability, then killing the third effectively removes that ability entirely.

But that's no different then killing Han in a HSF list. It's not like Lando is pure support and only useful for handing out actions.

Which as I said, only is an issue if you're planing on handing out actions to Jan. Myself I'd say a list that includes both Lando and Jan has other issues then not being able to give a free action to Jan.

In a Lando, Garven, Dutch list, losing one ship does not destroy the synergy as the other two can still benefit each other.

The difference between this and taking out Han in a HSF list is that there are two ships you may kill to neuter Lando: his support target, and himself. This is problematic for the Lando flyer.

The only way to stop Han's ability is to kill Han. This is not a problem.

Yes but you can count on using Lando's ability at least once or twice in a game, the same can't be said of Han.

Plus, depending on the list, Lando's support may be only really useful for the alpha strike, like say with the other 2 ships using him to help with the TL+F for secondary weapons. After that Lando's ability can be seen as a nice option, but not a requirement to make the list work.

I ran a Lando, Garven, Dutch, Roark, Rebel Operative Ibitsin, Green, Green list tonight and he handled himself very nicely. I consistantly had the TLs I needed to make missile shots and had tokens coming out of my wazzo.

How Many Points Were You Running? Yeesh!

When the falcon first came out, I loved the idea of Nien Numb + Lando, it's a really nice combo that doesn't cost a great deal. I first tried this:

YT-1300
Lando Calrissian + Nein Numb + Millennium Falcon (46)

X-Wing (x2)

Red Squadron Pilot + Proton Torpedoes (27)

It's not the best, I'll admit, but the first sort of thing I could see!

Just a small 250pt game on a 3x3 board.. Great fun.

I like to run:

Lando + Nien Numb

Rookie X wing

Prototype A wing x2

100pts

Sometimes without nien numb if I want init, or a B wing instead. My thought was, more ships for passing actions. X Wing hangs out behind lando at first. A wings flank and muck up positions. It's fun to use Lando to give boosts, not just Target Locks / Focus.

Lando is definitely my favourite YT pilot, only used it in one battle but I love his ability and it goes nicely with Kyle and Garven using sensible upgrades like recon specialist and the moldy crow title.

A new Lando Fleet, now with Headhunter support.

Lando Calrissian

+ Expert Handling

+ Nien Nunb

+ Gunner

4x Bandit Squadron Pilots
