As per the Slave 1 additional rules (and elsewhere):

Unique Names

This expansion pack includes Ship cards and Upgrade cards with unique names, as indicated by the bullet (*) to the left of the card's name. As with other cards that have unique names, a player cannot field two or more cards that share the same unique name, even if they are different types of cards.

Currently this also applies to Luke and Chewbacca. To be honest, I think you should be able to have Chewbacca (crew) with Chewbacca (ship) but apparently multitasking on the same boat is against the rules.

Well, you can't exactly fly a ship while you fix it, right? Makes sense to me, you'd have to let go of the controls to fix anything, you'd be floating in space and you'd be dead meat.

Unique names exaist for a reason what about when chewbecca is flying his ship and his up grade card is on lando?

Currently there are a lot of unique names in fact any name of a pilot and or an up grade card the has a ■ before their name/title means you can only have one in the squad. Even squad leader you can only have one off ■squad leader ■R2 D2 etc
