Converting old d6 system ships to EotE?

By Crimson Death, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I need some help in converting a YG-4210 transport to the Edge of the Empire system. I'm not familiar enough with the old d6 system as I only played it for a little bit and that was like 20 years ago.

Feel free to include other ships as well if you'd like!

Thank you.

Sorry I can't be help to this one right now. Here is a ship that I converted over from WEG/D20/Saga. I used all three resources to come up with the EotE stats.

There are no hard and fast rules to converting. Just kind of have to wing it...

But you can check out my work here: https://edge-of-the-empire-6.obsidianportal.com/wikis/the-kimogila-claw

I may be wrong as I'm afb right now, but I think they have stats for the 4210 in Enter the Unknown.

They do indeed. Here's a quick summary:

Silhouette 4

Speed 2

Handling -2

Defence 2/-/-/1

Armour 3

Hull trauma 30

System strain 10

Sensor range: Medium.

Encumbrance capacity: 120

Passengers: 12

Crew: Pilot and copilot.

Cost/Rarity: 85,000/7

Hard points: 4

Weapons: Dorsal twin-linked laser cannon (Fire arc all, Damage 5, crit 3, range close, linked 1).

You are correct. The stats are in EtU. I don't think FFG wants us posting their official stats on the forum. :(

or not...

How could you convert D6 starship damage to FFG?

I ask cause i found an F.O. dreadnought in D6 but would like to figure out what the Orbital autocannons would transfer to.

I think those are just 'Plot Damage' like the Death Star's Turbolaser. We know they can wipe out a reinforced planet-side base in a single salvo and are 'fleet killers'. If anything, I'd have them make an attack with extra difficulty = target's speed. If they hit, the target is dead. So that way they can't easily hit small/fast ships, but will wipe a cruiser every 2-3 rounds (depending on how long you want them to have as a recharge).

It's mostly eyeballing things, and doing comparisons between ships that have both d6 and FFG versions to try and get a feel for what's right. I did a conversion of a slew of Y-series ships during the EotE Beta, and some of them came reasonably close to what the official versions wound up looking like, while others were markedly different, due to me or FFG being more generous in determining what the ship could do.

Granted, even that's not perfect as some of the writers that have worked on legacy ships (i.e. vessels that have appeared in prior SWRPGs) have on occasion decided to just deep-six prior info and come up with their own spin. Prime example is the Ghtroc 720, which in each prior RPG had been a little more nimble, slightly worse hull, and mildly better shields than a stock YT-1300, but in EtU the person responsible decided "well, it looks like a turtle, so it should be slow and clumsy like a turtle while being heavily armored!"
