Restored between time and space

By Vitus_Prem, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

There's one thing I always wondered about.

According to the rules, when an investigator gets lost in time and space by loosing too much sanity or stamina, "His Stamina and Sanity
are restored to a minimum of 1."

Does this mean, that if you end up in another world with 4 sanity and 0 stamina, are you lost in time and space and restored to 4/1 or to the minimum of 1/1?
We always played the latter, but never were absolutely sure about it...

Yikes!

(consults handy pdf of rulebook)

We always played the former , but it is a bit ambiguous. Personally I just think it's clumsy wording, and what you're meant to do is just regain 1 point of whichever of the stats was reduced to zero. (Obviously that could be both).

I would say - and indeed have always played - as 4/1. You keep your stat that wasn't reduced to 0, while the one that was is restored to 1. I don't think a Stamin of 4 can be "restored" to 1. :-)

You say latter, you mean 1/1? To me minimum of 1 is that if at less than 1, restore to 1, if above 1, nothing happens (in a sense, you must have at least 1 in both of those). So in the above example, 4/1.

That segment of the rules was just written to mean that if you go insane or unconscious in an Other World, you suffer the exact same effect as in town, except that instead of going to the hospital or asylum, you go to Lost in Time and Space. Note that if you get Lost in Time and Space by any other means, you don't change your sanity or stamina.

So 4/1.

Okay, thanks to you all.

Will play it that way from now on. Till now, every time a rule was not absolutely clear, we choosed the harder variant.

Couldn't be both. If your stamina and sanity hit zero from the same cause you're devoured .
