soontir fel

By Ihavebadluck, in X-Wing

which is best for fel:

push the limit, royal guard tie (imperial aces title) stealth device, shield upgrade

push the limit, royal guard tie (imperial aces title) stealth device, targeting computer

push the limit, royal guard tie (imperial aces title) shield upgrade hull upgrade

other

I would take the second. Soontir with Focus and TL, along with his ability and dial make him the best pilot in the game.

I would say one of the latter two, While a shield might be better than a hull it is not a full point better.

You seem to be leaving out the Stealth Device + Hull Upgrade use of the Royal Guard title.

To me the SD+SU pairing is the most durable as you get the benefits of the SD but have a Shield to take what could be the crit that breaks everything. With the hull upgrade it almost the same thing except without the critical hit protection that a Shield would offer. Shield + Hull now gives the ship X-Wing like durability but with more agility and a better dial; I guess it almost becomes X-Wing + Stealth Device + Engine Upgrade which of course isn't legal yet.

For Soontir you probably do want to go with Stealth + Targeting computer. Help make those shots count (granted you could have two focus tokens to use) and hope to avoid getting hit while you take them down.

I like this one...although that makes him very expensive. A true glass Cannon. :)

You know Steve-o that's what I read the last one as. ignore me <.<, >.>

I'm skeptical about targeting computer. Even though Soontir gets a free focus after PtL I'd probably use the first two actions to focus, evade, barrel roll, or boost. Double focus is pretty good because Soontir is a high priority target.

That being said, Soontir is the best interceptor to use targeting computer with.

The beauty of the Stealth + Targeting Computer is you can still use all of Soontir tricks and then use TL when safe to do so, or on a play when max hits are a must.

Well, it's the cheapest use of Royal Guard Tie on Soontir... So...

For now the 2nd option on your list sounds nice.

I also like Expose, royal guard, stealth, shield.

Expose, RGTI, Stealth, TC.

Oppertunist, RGTI, Stealth, TC

I am sure in the future their will be upgrades to allow Cannons or Bombs.

Dream update and outfit.

PTL, RGTI, Stealth, Cannon slot, Heavy Laser.

OR

PTL, RGTI, Stealth, Cannon slot, SFS L-s9.3 Please dont hit me =)

what does SU stand for?

thanks for the help by the way

what does SU stand for?

I believe you are referring to my post where SU = Shield Upgrade. Sorry if I thought that should be obvious as I talked about shields later in that sentence and "Stealth Device, Shield Upgrade" was the first suggested use for the Royal Guard title.

@Vonpenguin: Your read "shield and hull" and "stealth and hull"? It's easy enough to see that as you just carried the PtL, RGT, and Stealth Device down from the first two. Any two of the modifications (except of course Engine Upgrade) could be useful on an Interceptor and three of them should make them more durable while Shield or Hull upgrades could hopefully make one shot kills far less likely.

I would take the second. Soontir with Focus and TL, along with his ability and dial make him the best pilot in the game.

I'd argue that Vader is the best pilot in the game, he's just stuck in a mediocre ship.

I'm pretty sure that just PTL+ stealth is the way to go. If you happen to have 3pts lying around and absolutely nothing to do with them (unlikely- 3pts= change from academy to Night Beast), Targeting computer would be nice, there are times when you know you won't get shot; then TL is nice.

I would say one of the latter two, While a shield might be better than a hull it is not a full point better.

Personally I've enjoyed the Shield Upgrade better. In any game i had SD, it would still get blown off in the first round someone fired on him, despite all odds. In the 7 games i've used him in since switching to the shield, the shield has managed to save me a critical hit every single time. Yes i know YRMV, but I know what i'm going to stick with from now on...

sorry just bad with abbreviations

Edited by Ihavebadluck

Not a problem. Abbreviations often get thrown around on boards like candy at an old fashioned parade but sometime they come without context which makes them hard to understand. Even worse, they sometimes have no context at all or context that is misleading. If someone talks about "using HSF" it is really hard know what that means if you don't know it stands for "Han Shoots First" and represents a common squad archetype.

I have run Fel with RG+ Targeting comp and felt it was a "win more type deal". Add hull instead....

I have had success with Vader along with expose. Both of which I wouldn't ever play either one alone!
