Does anyone else think 3 points is a bit high for the Stealth Device upgrade? Considering you lose it if you get hit 1 time.
Stealth Device Price?
The trick is to put it on something unlikely to get hit, like a Luke Skywalker or something with 3 Agility dice.
It puts something from "Hard to kill" into "Extremely Hard to kill"
Only has to work once to be as valuable as Shield Upgrade.
At 1 or 2 points who wouldn't use it?
Compare it to the hull upgrade en route. If it works once they are even, if it works twice you are getting r2d2 value cheaper and without movement restrictions.
Stealth Device is pretty much the best upgrade there is. Put it on a squad of Interceptors and you have something that is very hard to hit.
I would never use it on something with a low agility though.
The extra agility die Stealth gives you increases your chance to get an evade result by 37.5%, it goes up to 50% if you have focus. This alone might not sound that great but when as an Imperial player you have a base of (3) evade dice for Tie, Interceptors, and Advanced fighters the fourth die really starts to shine. With Focus and (4) evade die you will cancel two hits as the statistical average. An X-Wing throwing (3) attack dice will only do 1.5 hits average with no focus and 2.25 hits with focus. Usually a non-focused (3) die attack can be evaded with no damage.
Stealth makes (3) agility ships VERY difficult to hit at range three. The (5) evade die eat up a lot of hits. Imperials at range three with (5) evade die are going to come out on top when trading guns with the Rebels.
If you have an agility (3) ship give Stealth a try. The three point cost is not bad when you see how much your survivability increases.

Consider this though... if you miss with your evade, and say you're flying a squint... if 3 hits get through, that squint dies... stealh meant nothing.. however if that hull upgrade was in place, then 3 damage is hard, but you still have 1 left to get revenge with...
I think the price of both are just fine....

Here I was thinking this thread was someone asking what a fair "real world" price to pay for a Stealth Device would be. Considering that it is one of the most desired upgrades it's pretty clear that plenty of people are willing to pay 3 points to add it to one of their ships.
Now on a low agility ship that 3 points may be "wasted" points but that's simply because your ship is expecting to get hit. On those high agility ships which really hope to avoid getting hit those 3 points are added insurance to try and make that happen but if you're going to get hit just admit it and put a different modification on your ship.
You see people use a Shield Upgrade at 4 points and you know that is only good at surviving one additional hit. The Hull upgrade will be 3 points and is also good for just one more hit although it offer no additional critical hit protection. Now the Stealth Device may not guarantee a ship can take another hit but if it can help it avoid one hit then it has done as much as a Shield upgrade; the thing there is that until it gets removed the Stealth Device can lower damage on ANY attack so it is potentially one extra hit that is prevented every time the ship is attacked. I believe the statisticians around here have shown how many attacks a Stealth Device can protect against based on the agility and attack values; a 3 agility ship with SD dodging 2 dice attacks at long range could find the SD a great investment.
Green Squadron Pilot, Stealth Device, Push the Limit, 25 points of evasive awesome :3
Stealth is incredible. An extra ability die is a huge, huge thing.... Much better, IMHO, than one extra hull or shield. I actually run them low agility ships even... If they let me evade one hit or maybe two I feel they've paid of themselves. Two dice is better than one for dodging!

I did not intend to disparage hull upgrade. I think both are good and they favor low vs high agility ships. To me the stealth device is a logical extension of the squint mentality, high risk, high reward.
Hull gives you one hit grunted, stealth might give you none or might make you tougher than Luke. Definately should be used with the three agi ships though.
