With the new big Rebel ships coming out does anyone feel Proton Bombs should get addtional rules for attack giant ships? I feel it should get a damage boost of some kind, make it better than any of the torps that are out damagewise only if the bomber lands a direct hit with the Bomb itself. Otherwise it will feel werid that the Proton Bomb is one of the last weapons youd want to use on the big ships.
Proton Bombs
I see what you mean.
But a free crit is a free crit. There is, however, the giant risk of having your ship crash into the big ship and be instakilled
Against those behemoths it's auto damage at the cost of your action. Proton might not be the best use but still ok. I don't see a lot o them in games now, and the big ships aren't going to change that.
where are people finding out about big ships? the article didnt say much

Unless I red it wrong because I only skimmed through some of what they said about the 75 but cant it heal 6 point of damage a turn? If it can do this, including face up cards, the proton bomb would be pointless unless you got more than one bomber lol.

Its not used? Are any bombs used?
I see seismics a fair amount. I hear about people using proton bombs all the time but am pretty sure I've never actually seen one use in game. Proximities might see more use because it will be much much harder to turn these whales away from them.
The Transport can recover up to 4 shields a turn, if it has full energy. Making the Proton Bomb a bit more useful against the Transport than Seismic Charges. Of course, we also don't know what the hull section Crits can do to the ship either. So, yeah, the Proton Bombs will be just as effective against the Transport as other ships. Even more, since it will be tougher to run away from bombs, actually.
Now, we don't know what the crew or titles do. But the only issue I see might be the WED Repair Droid possibly repairing hull damage, or Chewie on a Transport.
I recall seeing a shield recharge ability but repairing face up cards may be a bit more involve.
Considering that a Proton Bomb slides cards under the shield they could be a very interesting option to use against a super fat cow like the transport.
The part of the bomb rules that needs to be expanded upon is the following: "... each ship at Range 1 of the token ...". The question is, do the front section and back section of the huge ships count as different ships for purposes of this resolution? If not, which section does a bomb damage if it overlaps both?
I imagine it will be just like determining range between ships, closest points.

I think at the least If it can hit both parts it should count as hitting both. Theirs a 50/50 chance it will end up like this but I have my fingers not on the controller crossed.
I don't see it happening. If each section had their own hull and shields, then it would make sense. But it is all one pool of health. And despite having 2 plastic bases, there is only one ship tile base. I think the fact that they will bypass their possible recharging shields and be very difficult to outrun a bomb will make them useful enough against these ships.

I don't recall seeing that. I know it can regain shields, but not hull, IIRC
The Recover action converts energy into shields. So, 4 shields max with this new action.

This is true. I'd imagine that adding Shield Upgrade will still be popular to add to these things, even if you can only add four in a turn. -IF- you can add Modification cards to Epic Ships, that is.
I mentioned this very thing in another thread. I want to know if a bomb blast that hits both fore and aft deals its crit to both sections (thereby getting 2 hits from one bomb) or just one.
