I've been away from the game for a few months but tonight I decided to stay in and paint up some more ships to get back into the swing of things.

First up was Luke in his Red 5. I used lots of pictures from the movie models and am very happy how Luke came out.

R2-D2 came out great

I also finally got around to putting a turret on my Gold Y-Wing. Earlier this week I stopped by a hobby shop and looked at the sprues of a few opened battleship model boxes and ended up buying one. I used a bit from one of the sprues for the y-wings turret.

Honestly I'm not sure if I like it. It looks better than before but I'm not sold on it. What do you guys think?

I'm seriously considering ripping it off and go hunt for a better turret...

Love the X-wing: its the best looking one I've seen.

The gun turret for the Y-Wing as you said looks better. It would be even better if you mounted the laser barrells on a round turret then it would be as perfect as your X-Wing.

You've inspired me to try and find something for my Y-Wings.

As Filthy said, turret would probably look better in a ball mount or at least a rounded shape. I also think it would look better if the guns were facing to the rear.

My Y-wings used an AA gun from a 1:700 USS Iowa battleship.
