New Players - Just getting started? - Not sure what to buy? Want to know what squads are good to get you started?

It looks like my first game is gonna be run using this

Firespray Boba Fett- Slave 1- Heavy Laser- stealth device

Howlrunner Marksmenship

Backstabber - Veteran Pilot

Academy Pilot

Im thinking 4 ships should work against people with 2 or 3 heavy modded ships

thats quite a lot of points to invest in fett. HLC + stealth device are points that could be better used imo. if u r running with howlrunner id be tempted to drop HLC + stealth and with the saved points (12) grab another Academy Pilot which would benefit from howlrunners ability if u keep a tight formation with those 4 tie-fighters. BUT try out what u have, im just thinking ahead to some changes you could consider for future games. Also marksmanship on howlrunner could be something more useful imo such as swarm tactics or if u have it Push the Limit OR why not go with stealth device on howlrunner? she is going to be a targeted ship after all.

Thanks for the responses guys. I do really want to try Turr Phennir, but I also think I want the Aces set to get 2 ships straight up. Maybe I'll check back when it eventually comes out see if there are extra pilot cards out there. Is this community really that generous?

yes, i think so. i mean with he name pilots - once u have them there is no point in hanging onto extra copies. thats how i see it and im sure when u find a playgroup they there will be players who will think the same ;)

Except for the fact that on the tokens for the ship bases, the named pilots *usually* have one of the generic pilots on the reverse side of the token. Giving away spare unique pilot cards, sure, but I wouldn't want to trade away base tokens and then not have the proper token for use when flying a list with generic pilots.

Maybe... a razor blade and some patient cutting... split off the unique from the common.. if one was so inclined...

Im definatley down for swapping things around, ill try my rig first then ill try 4 ties second,, I may even go with 3 really beefy ties.

I think my eventual goal is to run a FireSpray Sqaud of some kind though, 2-3 could be visicous IMO. Alot f the people I saw playing today were using shuttles. It seemed to me to take out the other ships first and ignore the shuttle.

I was also wondering about that Rebel Transport,, since they made that are there any plans for Star Destroyers?

What ships and expansions should I buy when I get started?

The standard answer is 2 Core Sets BUT is depends on what funds u have available. It also depends what faction you want to focus on (or maybe you want to play both factions?)
