Here is a squad im going to try out and possibly suggest to a friend for a tournament (he only owns a falcon and A-Wing and wants to play them).

How many competitive 100pt squads have you seen lately that use A-Wings? Yes i know about BBBAA rebel swarm but i wanted something a little more off-the-radar so here goes.

• It seems to me Navigator and Expert Handling would be great on the Falcon - its commonly used on the Firespray with Bobba Fett so why not here? Nien Numb crew lets Chewie use top speed out of a barrel roll.
• 3 cheap A-Wings could be really annoying giving u options for flankers and blockers - their goal would be to get in behind the enemy asap and close in for sneaky range1 shots from the flanks.

Thoughts?

Navigator and Expert Handling are both excellent on the YT-1300.
I would suggest a way to purchase Gunner in this fleet instead, though.

hmm taking gunner would mean dropping an A-Wing. something like...

You could switch the Blues to Greens with PTL for the same cost, but I think you will want the firepower of the B's more then the speed of the A's.

I've run Chewie with EH many times, and Lukes ability really helps. That sudo focus can be a game changer. I think the APL will be nice when you roll right in front of a group of ships. Also the APLs will give your opponent some pause before they fly right at you which, will give you some better movement options.

thanx MrF. i agree the B-Wings is the more optimal build - i just have a feeling this guy will want to play A-Wings as he is more into fun than winning. i think greens with PTL is not bad.

Green's with PTL aren't bad support for him. The APL is nice, but it's the psychological bind that it puts on the opponent that makes it shine. If you can get them to alter how they fly then those 2 points are well spent. The EH will also help against B-Wings with Fire Control System. Breaking Target locks is going to be very helpful. Navigator is going to give you flexibility against Low PS pilots trying to block you, and APL will give you some counter punch to High PS pilots who move after you. I think it has nice balance. Luke and will be worth the points when your stressed and need to hit a hard target. High defense ships are going to be tricky for you. The APL will help you out some there. Good luck and post how this does, and what you decide to run.

PtL Greens are great for evading fire and getting a hit or two here and there, which is great for finishing off things damaged by chewie. best part is, the squad should be extremely evasive - the greens are hard to hit on their own, and chewie should be able to get out of arcs with navigator and expert handling.

agreed. i like how this sqaud is quite versatile. against high PS ships chewie can block and deal damage with APL and against low PS ships ur Greens can move 2nd and get into nice flanking positions with boosting while chewie can barrel roll out of attackers arcs and still hit them with his 360 arc

I played this variation a few weeks ago to moderate success (I won, but it was close, Chewie ate it and so did 2 protos, but not before they softened up the enemy interceptors enough that my final guy could eke out the win)

I like the idea of everybody having ps 5, a little higher than normal but without dumping a lot of points into it. Plus I always like to be able to choice the order that I fly my ships in. In fact I may try this later today.

Friend of mine has had good success running

Han Solo with chewbacca crew

2x Green squadron with PTL and stealth.

Although if I was going to build the AA-YT, I would do

Chewbacca with push the limit, nien nunb, falcon title, and then either a navigator or recon specialist.
