Thought I'd share this. Makes tokens look really nice.

yeah,

I've been building paper model terrain for over a decade... This technique is known as edging.

dude,

The original link was mine and I just selected the sharpies off eBay without much research.

I you opinion what's the best value pens for edging?

Panic...

I prefer sharpies as it is easy to get them in various sizes. However for terrain I used many different brands as the color shades are too varied for just Sharpies. I am currently in a move and most of my stuff is in a storage locker but I'll get you some alternate brand names later. I will also post a link to show how useful this is for other boardgames and terrain.

This is my terrain album (sorry FB album, having issues with my old Photobucket account). The edging technique is brilliant for paper or mat board terrain, it is also extremely handy for other board games from FFG that are token heavy. I just did all of my 2nd edition Descent tokens recently which makes finding what I need amazingly simple.

Edit: the earlier pics in the album are from before I learned the "edging" technique. You can really see the difference in the pics later added to the album. There was an entire thread in the forums these paper models came from that discusses the best marker options. I will look it up after work.

I've started in with the Testors chisel tip paint markers. The colors are right- there's even a blue and a light blue to differentiate Shield tokens and TL's. The tip gets in to corners quite well, even on TL's. The tip is wider than the counters, though, so I've been wiping off the excess from the surfaces as i go. Still looks good.

I experimented with red and green for the ship tokens, but I think black works best there.
