For a random character. I'd go with the unnamable, as it's a guranteed skill, and in order of Historical Society to be better you need around 5 dice, and most of the odds you won't have that much. What do you think?
That is exactly what I think. There's no guarantee your will is going to be high or how well you're going to do on the encounter. And who wants to be delayed a turn anyway? Seems like unless you're really lucky or have some items or effects to bolster your roll, it'd be better to just take the free skill and not ask any questions.
