Predicting source book areas

By DanteRotterdam, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I've been asking for a book on Hutt Space since the very first announcements for Suns of Fortune were made, and I still think it would be one of the best areas that could be covered for Edge. Second on the list might be the Corporate Sector.

Excuses me but your signature says that we "must learn (to) ignore", followed by the statement that you have both myself and someone else on ignore.

Now, I don't mind that you have me on ignore at all, because I stand by what I said and if you can't deal with that then that is perfectly fine with me if you don't want to read my posts.

It is no skin of my nose that you wear the fact that you have me on ignore as a batch of honour either. I mean, I find it childish and absurd, but if that is who you want to be then no problem!

Hell, I don't even mind that you choose to post in a topic I started, eventhough it must have been clear to you that I started the topic because the boards tell you that "someone you have on ignore" started it.

I do however find it disagreeable that you tell others they must learn how to ignore and use my name to underline this with each and every post you make here and then show us that the lessons you want others to learn apparently don't apply to you. So either remove my name from your signature (whether you continue to ignore me or not doesn't matter to me) or get out of my topic.

I would tend to agree, it seems a little uncivil to me to be advertising whom you are ignoring. Ignoring people of course is anyone's prerogative, it just seems rude to me to broadcast it.

I mention those that I'm ignoring so that there are no misunderstandings when I don't respond to their posts.

I thought a bit about this... what with the state of some canon in the air, I wonder if Fantasy Flight could add their own sector of space? There is enough room in the galaxy and it would be fresh to see something new, rather than the same old rehash of what has cime before. I try to do that in my game. Have a sector of space with my own home made planets, races, etc.

I like finding planets that have a name but not much else there, and then adding whatever details I want. Or simply creating a planet along a known trade route. Same basic idea, but not as much work for me.

Weird, that you post in my topic then.

Amen! Some of the best stuff that WEG did - back in the early days where the only canon was 3 movies, 107 marvel comics, 6 books and a Christmas special - was their own creation. Verpine, that dude that designed Star Destroyers (and his evil daughter), interdictiors, the Darkstryder Campaign, the Tapani stuff - all pretty sweet write ups. I'd love to see some "lets just make some stuff up!" return to the universe.

I will report you for every topic you make with my name as part of your signature starting now.

I would like to see Hutt Space and the Corporate Sector, both seem naturals for Edge of the Empire.

I agree that Tatooine is a bit overdone. Perhaps a "highlights" sourcebook of Tatooine, Yavin, Hoth, Dagobah, Endor, and other familiar places from the movies that don't really warrant a full sourcebook of their own.

At some point the series will need an Imperial Sourcebook, but I rather much expect that will be for Age of Rebellion.

A bestiary with all sorts of nasty creatures, a Droid catalog, and DIY construction manual for building your own light saber would also be good.

Well if it is anything like Suns of Fortune...it's going to be awesome. I am loving the sector book!

Of the worlds covered in the OT, Bespin is the only one I'd be interested in. It's likely to have some general coverage in the next adventure, so I'm not sure if want much more beyond that.

If they do these by map area, the Tatooine (which I'm not too interested in myself) is right next to Geonosis (I'd like to see how its doing post-war) and not too far from Ryloth (which I find more interesting than Tatooine).

If they go away from map areas, I wouldn't mind seeing thematic groupings, like one covering smuggling routes, or a book that focuses on low-to-mid level Black Sun operations.

Well, it sounds like Bespin would be covered in the upcoming Jewel of Yavin adventure, probably in much more detail than the planets in Beyond the Rim got covered. At least if the notion that JoY takes place entirely on Bespin is even remotely accurate.

Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing a source book on Hutt Space, as there's plenty more places than just Nar Shaddaa for the PCs to visit and get into trouble at. Could also be an excellent way to take a deeper look at organized crime, and not just the galaxy-spanning Hutt cartels but also smaller operations. Though criminal stuff could also be covered in the eventual Smuggler's career book just as Enter the Unknown addressed creating exploration-based adventures.

I would like more about Mon Calamari Space, Hutt Space, The Mandalorian Sector, Bothan Space (I would love to see some of the cruisers they were producing in this era since the Guide to Warfare stated they were a major cruiser production site in the rebellion era but all of the ship classes we know of them producing came out decades later.), the Tapani Sector, The Corporate Sector, The Mandalorian Sector, and Atravis sector (In the Guide to Warfare Atravis is mentioned as the sight of thee way conflicts between the Empire, the Alliance, and Sep remnants,) I would also love a book focused on pirate and privateer groups, perhaps set in the Ado Sector since a lot of the more well-known Alliance Privateers operated there at least part of the time.

And at some point I would like a post AoR Corellian book so we can learn more about the Alliance and Imperial forces in the area.

Hadn't thought about Bothan space... That would be interesting, especially if played up as a hotbed of espionage. It's also about the right size to be covered in a single book too.

Are there any other species native to Bothan Space worlds that we know of?

Not within it, but Kamino and Falleen are nearby.

Also, the other systems (AoR, F&D) will likely have career and regional sourcebooks as well, and the regional sourcebooks will probably not double up for obvious reasons. So for example a "Moddell Subsector Sourcebook" with Endor, Ewoks, and Ssi-Ruvi makes more sense in AoR. EDIT: Or even F&D, since Cereans (Ki-Adi-Mundi) live in the area too.

I pronounced it KaSHEEK until I played the first KOTOR where I heard it pronounced KA-shick

I remember in behind-the-scenes of Episode I, George Lucas pronounced Padme's home planet as "Nay-boo".

I think there's a lot of variation in how these names are said :)

Count me in for Hutt Sector and Corp Sector books. I'd love to have the Triani for my games. ;)
