Predicting source book areas

By DanteRotterdam, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

So now that we have Suns of Fortune it is not a stretch to figure that more sourcebooks will be released that will feature/highlight a certain area. My bet (and hope) is that this will include a book pertaining to Hutt Space as well as a book that focuses on Hut Space.

What are your hopes and guesses?

TBH, I am hoping for everything. With FFG going the way of skills versus levels, I'm excited about any source books and material that comes out. Though, if I have to name one, I'd enjoy seeing Kashyyyk.

So two books on Hutt Space?

I kid, I kid!

What I'd like:

The Hapan Consortium

Hutt Space (PC Hutts, need I say more?)

Mandalorian Space (including old conquests like Togoria)

Bothan Space

Mon Calamari Space

The Rishi Maze (Kamino)

The Unknown Regions (Chiss, Ssi-Ruvi, etc.)

What we'll probably get:

Hutt Space

The Corporate Sector

The Anoat Sector (Bespin, Hoth)

Mon Calamari Space? That would be so awesome!!!

I would guess Naboo. I would like to see the current batch of writers tackle Tatooine.

At some point I would assume Coruscant. Probably Tatooine. Kashyyyk would be great I think. Mandalore would also be super.

I think Hutt Space and Tatooine are most likely, with aCorporate Sector and Coruscant behind them. Things like Kashyyyk, Mandalorian Space, and Bothan Space will probably come eventually, but I doubt any time soon.

I'd be interested to see Mandalore covered, especially if they kept in continuity with The Clone Wars and showed what has happened to it in the 20 or so years since the Death Watch takeover with Darth Maul et al.

I'd imagine a little of that will be shown in the Dark Horse Darth Maul comic coming out later this year.

I agree with this. So between 3 core rulebooks...could we see 9-12 source books? Ooo...that is potentially full of awesome.

I hope they continue to tackle this divided by sectors. I like the regional designation. It helps me better physically sort my homebrew adventures.

How are you supposed to pronounce Kashyyyk? My reader is saying Kash-ee-yick. Not entirely trusting it since it pronounces wookiee "wooo-KEY". The inflection makes me laugh. So that's how I pronounce it in-game... which annoys the wooo-KEY player just enough! But, back to Kashyyyk, I've heard people say Kash-eek.

Have they done Bespin yet? Seeing as it's a mining operation that's too small to be noticed by the Empire or mining guilds and it's run by a smooth talking scoundrel, I'd say it's right up our alley!

I agree that seeing some Mandalorian love would be awesome. Some things I'd like to see beyond that:

1) A revisit to the Tapani Sector.

2) More information on the Deep Core

3) Some clearer "era" notes with key places.

4) Items that are geared for each line; Shadowports and Havens for Edge of the Empire (Starforge Station and Smuggler's Run, for example), Military Bases and Strongholds for Age of Rebellion (sample battlestations, thoughts for various bases for each side, things like that), and schools and training grounds for Force and Destiny (I'm looking at Korriban, Tython, Coruscant. . .anywhere that's had a strong connection with and training grounds for the Force).

With regard to your first question I pronounce the Wookiee homeworld as "Kah-sheek" with the inflection on the second syllable.

Bespin has a brief write-up on page 356 of the Edge of the Empire Core Rulebook, but it will probably be covered much more extensively in the upcoming module "The Jewel of Yavin," which is set on Cloud City.

Well, Cloud City will be the focus of the upcoming adventure so I am sure that we will see a lot of details on Bespin in that book... Can't wait for that by the way.

I hope for hutt space. I doubt the anoat sector will be covered. Hoth is supposedly devoid of human life and cloud city will be covered in jewel of yavin.

Places I don't want: tatooine... seriously, why does everyone go to tatooine? It has been overdone and oversaturated.

It may sound weird but I hope we don't get a Tatooine book. Okay, pretty much every PC group has to go there at some point - it's like a rite of passage - but considering "If there's a bright center to the universe, you're on the planet that it's farthest from", it sure does get a lot of press.

That's closer to how I've heard people pronounce it than I described.

Oh! Good to know! Maybe I can hide in a certain carbonite freezing chamber and see my favorite scene happen live! :)

I just can't resist though, my real estate agent promised I'll never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy, and with a sales pitch like that I just can't say no......

I've been asking for a book on Hutt Space since the very first announcements for Suns of Fortune were made, and I still think it would be one of the best areas that could be covered for Edge. Second on the list might be the Corporate Sector.

Excuses me but your signature says that we "must learn (to) ignore", followed by the statement that you have both myself and someone else on ignore.

Now, I don't mind that you have me on ignore at all, because I stand by what I said and if you can't deal with that then that is perfectly fine with me if you don't want to read my posts.

It is no skin of my nose that you wear the fact that you have me on ignore as a batch of honour either. I mean, I find it childish and absurd, but if that is who you want to be then no problem!

Hell, I don't even mind that you choose to post in a topic I started, eventhough it must have been clear to you that I started the topic because the boards tell you that "someone you have on ignore" started it.

I do however find it disagreeable that you tell others they must learn how to ignore and use my name to underline this with each and every post you make here and then show us that the lessons you want others to learn apparently don't apply to you. So either remove my name from your signature (whether you continue to ignore me or not doesn't matter to me) or get out of my topic.

I'd love to see the Corporate Sector Authority in a sourcebook. We got one back in the WEG days, but it only covered the first two of the Brian Daley books, and left out ". . .and the Lost Legacy" so it was incomplete. Getting a sourcebook that covers all three novels would be awesomesauce.

As far as Tatooine or no, I would say no - or at least not yet. Yes, my game is currently based out of the sector that Tatooine is in (admittedly heavily modified), but we've already got the Secrets of Tatooine from WotC and the Mos Eisley Galaxy Guide from WEG. The stats are out of date, but the information and color is still perfectly good and the books are still super easy to get ahold of.

I would hope that a CSA book goes beyond the novels we have seen. Suns of Fortune covers about ten worlds in detail and twenty more in passing. That's far more than the number of worlds the Corporate Sector novels even touched on despite the CS being much larger than the Corellian Sector, so they're really going to have to expand to fill out the material needed for a book on it. Probably the same for Hutt Space too, where only a few worlds are really developed right now (but many subject species of the Hutts have been mentioned).

I thought a bit about this... what with the state of some canon in the air, I wonder if Fantasy Flight could add their own sector of space? There is enough room in the galaxy and it would be fresh to see something new, rather than the same old rehash of what has cime before. I try to do that in my game. Have a sector of space with my own home made planets, races, etc.
