Hello everyone,
I am about to start up a campaign of Descent 2 with a group of 4 players, and it looks like I ll be the Overlord.
All of us have a little practice playing a few single-game quests, and my players are very experienced tactical players with a lot of boardgame and tabletop experience (as am I)
So far, unless we restrict the time on the hero turns, they only really lose by bad dice luck, but lets assume they will not make major tactical errors. So far, the games have often come down to a crucial turn of attacks deciding the outcome, which makes for interesting play, but given that it is already a fair fight at that level, and since heroes outscale the OL progression in campaigns by far, its safe to assume the Shadow Rune expansion is not going to work well.
I have, currently, access to the Trollfens and Lair of the Wyrm as well, plus could pick up the big box expansion tonight (money is not the issue for this, as long as we will be able to have many evenings of fun, the split cost for each is negligible), but I am really looking for a campaign to use that is better balanced than Shadow Rune.
Does anyone have experience playing the mini-campaigns as standalone?
