ANybody got an idea about the size of the hero clix space maps? I read somewhere that they are 36"x36" for the larger ones. Cn anyone confirm that? they are dirt cheap!!

The older square maps are 36"x36" while the newer rectangle maps are 24"x36"; both have 1.5 inch grids marked on them.

You might get flak for using mats with any sort of grid. I don't think there's any problem with it, since the advantage is mutual, like having access to the maneuver charts for all ships during play. Still, I play gridless.

I play gridless as well, but unless you knew the measurements of each ruler and could calculate which squares they'd end up in, a grid is not going to be very helpful. In fact, it can actually hinder pre-visualizing the maneuver by tricking your eyes.
