So i'm going to be an astromech

By Silver leader, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

do astromech's have silhouette of 0?

do astromech's have silhouette of 0?

The block on silhouettes in AoR beta (and I'm assuming the same for EotE Core, I didn't think to look) says a couple things about that. Firstly, Astromech droids are silhouette 0, right there on the table with Jawas. Secondly, rather than simply say Player Characters, it lists off some species that are silhouette 1 in the next entry on the table. Thirdly, it says that most characters are silhouette 1 (doesn't mention player characters) in the paragraph preceeding the table.

All that put together tells me... to ask your GM. From the lore, an R1 would be silhouette 1, and the others (R2 through R5) would be silhouette 0

Yup, EotE core book pg. 212 does show that astromechs are silhouette 0.

I think this whole discussion could easily be solved if FFG did a splat book with an astromech droid sub-species (like they did with Corellian humans but making more sense). The droid "species" does, after all, have the most sub variations and then these things can be worked into the balance. I do think the RAW is a bit off for droids (though I can't put my finger exactly where) and sub-droid write ups on the common variations may take pressure of the character creation process. I'd rather have that than another human variation.

A whole splat-book on droids would be very welcome, honestly. There's a lot of things that makes droids stand out more than, say, most other single species. A near-human book could also be nice, although I can see how that might end up being a compilation of near-human species already listed elsewhere.

Might even have a Universal Specialization for Droids, too, or something. Wouldn't even be that unwarranted, given that droids miss out on all the Force Sensitive Specializations anyway.

So my GM alloted me what is listed as factory standard. But said that doesn't mean what i have is good. But that i can use credits to upgrade my tools. i ended up using my credits to purchase com links, a glow rod, rations and other itmes to help the group.

He figured since since its factory standard lore wise, why break that for a RP game if it's not in line with the universe.
