I landed on the Leper and rolled a 1. I then had to lose 1 life or a follower. I only had 1 live left so I chose to lose a follower. Does my Mercenary Follower get discarded to the discard pile or do they get discarded to that spot on the board where I encountered the Leper?

By the flavor of the card I would think that my follwer the Mercenary had died and should be discarded and not left on that spot on the board. But my friends out voted me on this one

I have found the answer for this. It's clearing described in the manual under Losing a Follwer:

"Any Followers that are killed or that must be discarded are placed on the Adventure Card discard pile."

This is very clear. I try to be careful before posting
