YV-560 Interior

By Hakon, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Our group has acquired a YV-560 as our starting ship, we have named our ship the Far Horizon, since we have no interior images i made 1 up, i thought i'd share it here so others can use it. na76.png

We are still thinking of what upgrades would be good, but so far we think we will upgrade the dorsal linked-medium cannon to a linked-heavy cannon, add a ventral linked-heavy cannon for 1 hard point allowing as to shoot at short range instead of close, then add an advanced targeting array for +2 to everyones gunnery skill as well as the sniper shot and aimed shot skills, increasing range of all weapons to medium. the 3rd hard point will upgrade the hyper drive to a 0.5 drive and the last hard point will be spent converting 75/80 of our encumbrance into smugglers holds.

With the ships awesome long range sensors, we can choose weather to fight or run long ahead of time, and most of the time if we fight we will shoot them before they get into their sensor range, effectively having 2-3 extra turns of shooting before anything can shoot back, very deadly little ship.

Very good work on a layout gives me ideas on future ships I plan on doing interiors for eventually.

I like what you've done, but my big concern is that you've made the YT-560 bigger than it really should be. The images we have of it make it out to be significantly smaller than the YT-1300, which is supposed to be just under 35 meters long. Your 560, based on the size of the furniture and such, looks to be well over 42 meters long and just as wide as the squat YT-2400 at 27 meters. While that does give you plenty of room to play with... it just makes the ship so huge.

actually it is smaller, i used a YT-1300 as a basis, then increased all furniture and the scale pilot by roughly 15%.

i have also listed the ship at 30.1m, it states it is similar to a YT-1000 in size (perhaps a tad bigger) i therefor made it 30m to account for the antennas on the front.

I think its the cabin that throws it off... ill up the size of the cockpit slightly and repost it for you, hopefully it looks better that way.

I saw your numbers and thought they were curious. Just looking at a map of the YT-1300, it seems like you've managed to pack a whole lot more into what should be a much smaller ship. (Not to mention, checking the scale in Photoshop based on the size of your furniture and your halls suggests the ship is much bigger than the length you've given it.)

Don't get me wrong, I like it. I just feel like it might be a little out of scale. But... your ship and your group. If you have fun with it, everything else we can argue is just semantics.

*thumbsup*

left the halls the same, to show they are skinnier, it has 5 passenger cabins, 2 crew quarters, a sparse common area, cargo holds evenly distributed towards the outer of the ship with individually sealing bulkhead doors, extra large food storage. all as per the entry in the book.

it has a standard array of a med-bay, a workshop and an engine room, due to space the hyper drive is elsewhere in the ship, and the engine room doubles as a cargo lift.

According to the book this is a scientific exploration vessel, it has individual quarters and more focus on accommodation over cargo space due to it being a more deep space long duration vessel.

Thanks for this.

edited the upgrade list i mentioned earlier as i didn't read sniper shot properly, the ship will have sensor range long, shooting range medium, very, very deadly. 2-3 turns of shooting without being shot back, yes please :)

How did you do this? This looks excellent.

I downloaded images as a basis, then cut and paste them together in paint

This is the ship from the Enter the Unknown book, right? The one that is shown as the illustration on the back?

I have just finished modeling my YV-560 for use with the star wars x-wing scale.

I will provide pics of the build in a separate topic, and post the link here shortly.

I think it looks awesome. You spent a good amount of time on it and it shows. Excellent work!
