Glue the Shuttle?

By Old Guy, in X-Wing

I am a new player, or new loser might be more apt after a 4-0 defeat this Saturday, but that is another story.

I received a parcel of new ships today and it contains a Shuttle, should I just go ahead and glue the wings in place as I do not foresee any time when I would want them up. I just wonder that with constant use the wings may snap anyway.

The main reason for them folding up is storage. If you're fine storing them in the deployed position, I don't see why you couldn't glue them. I also don't see why you would bother gluing them though. If you're storing them in the deployed position, you won't be opening/closing the wings to even worry about wearing them out. While no one has complained about that particular failure yet, the ships are still relatively new, so that could be a potential fatigue failure that no one has encountered yet.

I always have my wings up, as they tend to collide with other ships even if the bases are far apart.,

Most of the time you start with them down, then once you get in the mix, and you fold them up so they are out of the way

I would not recommend glueing them down. They tend to get in the way during close dogfights, formation flying, and furballs, so folding them up really helps then. The ships are also far easier to store with the wings folded up.

It almost sounds like you mean they are separate from the model. They should not be detached. If they are, contact FFG and their dedicated Sienar Engineers will be able to help.

and if they should snap at some point, you still can glue them into position, no need to jump ahead to that point.

compromise glue only ONE wing down..
