New Scenerio: Red Squadron Gauntlet

By Hrathen, in X-Wing

Player 1: Wedge, Luke, Biggs + upgrades to get to 100 points

Player 2:

Wave 1: Academy Pilot x3

Wave 2: Obsidian Pilot x3

Wave 3: Black Squadron Pilot X3 + 3 points of upgrades

Wave 4: Winged Gundark, Nightbeast, Dark Curse

Wave 5: Mauler Mithel, Backstabber, DarthVader

Setup:

Set up as normal except player 2 only sets up Wave 1 ships.

Once the last ship of any phase is killed the roll a d6 to assigne 1-4 to one side of the table, on a 5 player 1 picks the side on a 6 player 2 picks a side. Player 2 must then set up the next wave of ships along that side (1 range band)

Once all of player 1's ships are destroyed the two players switch

Win condition: the player that destroys the most imperial waves wins.

This was inspired by old vidogames.

I know this would take a while, it should probably be done in tow days.

Interesting. It comes out to 228 points for the imperials, but being that they're in 5 waves, I bet it would end up being rather evenly matched. At least until wave 5. An R2D2 on Biggs should keep the squad relatively healthy, though this might be a good time to use R5-D8, as there should be several turns between waves to heal up. I thought about putting R5 + DTF on Luke, but I think the points are better spent on PTL on Wedge. This way you have a better chance at one shotting a TIE before it can even shoot (unless it's Vader).

Biggs w/ R2D2 + Shield

Wedge w/ PTL + R5D8 + Shield

Luke

I am not sure the scenerio is balanced between the Imperials and the Rebels, that is why I recommended that both players play through the scenerio as the rebels and see how far they can get.

I was just remembering those good old days of X-wing the PC game and how, once you killed one wave of ships the Imperials sent out the next. It was a pretty dumb tactic on the part of the Empire, but it made flying the X-wing a lot of fun. You could really rack up the kills.

Wave 1 and Wave 2 wouldn't really be different (aside from carry over damage) would they? The PS of the Obsidians won't matter more than the academies, since all the rebel pilots are > 5,

I'd skip Wave 2 and add a wave of 2-3 low PS Interceptors prior to the final Vader wave.

Otherwise, this looks fun =)

No not really, Wave 3 won't be too much different either. I am not sure what upgrades you can put on them for three points.

Perhaps I should let wave 2 take some upgrades as well. You don't see to many upgrades on TIEs.

prob just veteran instincts on wave 3 so that they are all above biggs on ps, or draw their fire so they might be a lil more difficult to kill by sharing damage ( this requires 3 falcons, or more likely just a few proxies)

Determination could have a similar effect to draw their fire, but probably a little less effective. Adrenaline rushes to let them all have a "free" k turn

I love seeing this kind of things.
