Escalation Format

By cclaybern, in X-Wing

So I have never played this format before. How does it work? I guess I have a tournament to prep for in a soon and looking for how it works so I can design. I am unsure of points at the moment. Thanks for the help.

I'm curious too. I know that you start with 45(?) points, and then the next round is 60 points. Of which, 30 have to be the same as from the first round. And it goes on like that.

What I want to know is do the root ships points count? For example, if I had a Rookie w/ R2 and a Blue at 45, and then upgraded to Wedge and Ibby w/ PTL at 60... do the 21 points of the rookie and 22 points of the blue count as 43 points of the same? Or since the pilots changed, is this squad illegal because it has nothing in common with the original?

Funny, I was just thinking that a format like this would be fun. Nice job FFG. Read my mind. And it cuts down the play time for the early rounds so the thing wont last for a week.

It does seem like alot of fun until someone busts out 12 TIEs ;P

Escalation is a blast. I attended a 14 player Escalation tournament in SC back in Nov. Really fun alt. format that allows some crazy lists. I finished 2nd. And no, we didn't have anyone playing the 10+ TIE builds... but I would've love to see it.
