Attack or no?

By tumslover27, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

I'm very new to this game so please excuse the questions. These questions are for the HBO version of the Game Of Thrones LCG.

1. If I try to make a military attack on my opponent but they have no military symbol on any of their characters does that mean I can't attack? Do I get to attack but the attack goes unopposed? What if I do this with any other type of attack? Can I still do it or do I have to waot until my opponent has a character that has the ability to participate in that type of attack?

2. Bran Stark's card says that you can save him and put him back into your hand. Let's say the plot card only allows one character to die during a military attack, what's to stop someone from just putting Brsn Stark out there every turn in order to be sacrigiced? It seems a bit unfair. Am I missing something?

3. If I lose a military challenge does the character I choose to die have to be the one involved in the challenge directly? Does it have to be a character that only has a military symbol on it or can I just sacrifice any character regardless of what symbols they may have?

1. You may initiate any or all 3 challenges each turn -- it doesn't matter what characters your opponent has, or even if he has any characters at all. If he cannot defend, the challenges are unopposed.

2. Bran Stark's ability is referred to as a "Claim Soak", and that is exactly how it is supposed to work -- there are other such cards in the LCG as well.

3. No, the character chosen for claim does NOT have to be participating in the challenge. Any character may be chosen to die.

Please keep in mind that this board is for the LCG, which while it is similar to the HBO version, has a few differences. Most of us are fluent with the LCG rules, but when it comes to the HBO version, we might lead you a bit astray...

There is a forum for the HBO game (http://community.fantasyflightgames.com/index.php?/forum/286-game-of-thrones-the-card-game/), although I don't know if it's frequented at all...

(Although for these particular questions, the rules are the same and you can trust the answers Kauai gave.)
