HELP!

By Spaceman91, in X-Wing

I'll start by saying yes i like the beetles (if you don't get that joke shame on you).

I played two games today and I got pounded into the ground in both. From this I learnt that I'm a better rebel and that my flying is good (dice not so much). I flew a red, a rookie, wedge with r2d2 and a y wing with ion turret. I will admit that I had never used the Y-wing before so its lackluster green dice was more of a shock then I first thought.

Anyway Y-wing goes down very quick to Soontir Fell. The three X-wing lasted longer and did ok. So this got me thinking can I do something that's just x-wings.

This is what I came up with:

Wedge

Garvin

2x rookies

This leaves me three points. So what do I use them for? The only idea I had was Wedge gains : R2 astro and elusiveness. I'm open to all ideas.

Sorry for rambling. I do that a lot.

Wedge will die fast but swarm tactics on him may increase chances of removing one enemy ship before he can shoot back on your first round of shooting. If you own 3Y you should probably put R2 astro on everyone but Wedge.

Wedge w/ PTL + R2

Biggs

Rookie

Rookie

The best 4X squad to exist (imo at least). And one of the best squads in general, though it's rather repetitive and not really that creative of a squad.

what ships do u have available? any expansion ships like B-Wings? what squad/squads r u playing against?

when u r starting out some ship types are easier than others to fly.

XXBB seems to be a popular rebel squad right now but XXXX wit the right mix of pilots/upgrades can also be really good.

sounds like x-wings will make up the core of ur squad? really depends what ships u have but u could try something like...

Luke/R2D2/Swarm/Shield Upgrade

3x Rookie Pilot

Garven + R2 Atromech

Biggs

Dagger Squadron Pilot

Garven + R2 Astromech

Dutch Vander + Ion Cannon + R2 Astromech

2x Blue Squadron Pilot

I like a variance of your last build:

Wedge +PTL+ R2=33

Gold + Ion=23

2Xblue squad=44

sure that looks good too. just that wedge will have a bullseye on his chest early and often. you are going with low PS as well so once u lose wedge you have all 2PS ships, that could be a problem against some squads, just pointing that out.

I have 4x x-wings and one of all the other rebel ships (I do have imperial stuff too)

it's worth noting that Luke, Garven, Biggs, and a Rookie add up to exactly 100 points. It's a pretty impressive spread of unique pilots for a rebel build, though it does not include Wedge

It doesn't have to have wedge I just like his ability.

pretty nice when wedge takes on Han and there aint crap he can do about it (see agility 1)

If your going 4 x's, and bare in mind my natural defensive bent, I think I'd build for grinding out results. I'd drop Wedge as he is such a target you have to build around him, and I'd prob go for a Luke list designed to last.4X's can be a bugger over a long game.

I thought about Luke first but in my hands in the five games I have used him the force has claimed him first. It would mean I could have R2D2 on him but my curse of him worries me

I would like to add that as soon as I get my hands on the transport this could all change anyway.
