i've seen some threads on this, but i have not recognized/found a final ruling.

Is there some sort of final ruling on the usage of duplicates with Burning Bridges in effect?

Yes. Duplicates can be used while Burning Bridges is revealed.

The "cannot trigger abilities on ... cards" should be interpreted literally as "cannot trigger abilities printed on ... cards."

With the (confusing, but logically consistant) "exception" of gained abilities printed on the card (like Murenmure, or House Clegane Brigands), which can be triggered.
